ASSISTANT DEAN OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
Central College seeks a dynamic educator to serve as the inaugural assistant dean of international education. Reporting to the associate dean for global education, the assistant dean is responsible for management of Central’s international programs for undergraduate students, including supervision of on-campus study abroad staff and budget, communication with students and faculty, and recruiting students.
POSITION: Assistant Dean of International Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, administrative appointment
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to 1) manage and facilitate the implementation of Central’s study abroad programs; 2) supervise on-campus staff in the areas of communication (web and social media), application and selection processes, orientation and re-entry, and database management ; 3) Oversee the implementation of best practices in health, safety, risk management and other policies and procedures for international study; 4) Oversee the operational budget for the study abroad office; 5) Facilitate the planning for new off-campus programs, including faculty-led programs, and evaluation of existing programs in cooperation with the Associate Dean; 6) Develop and implement methods for active promotion of international study for Central students and cooperating institutions in a manner that aligns with College priorities; 7) Develop innovative strategies to recruit Central College students for study abroad, collaborating with others on campus; 8) work cooperatively with many offices across campus.
Founded in 1853, Central College of Pella, Iowa, is a private, residential four-year liberal arts college known for its academic rigor and strength in global experiential learning, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), sustainability education, athletics success and tradition, and leadership and service.
