UCF Global at the University of Central Florida is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of UCF Abroad with a proven track record, who will build on the strength of UCF and its faculty. This position has been created to implement a new regional model study abroad office to reach the goal of sending 3000 students abroad by 2020. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of UCF Global.
•Develops and implements a Regional Based Model (Latin America, Asia, Europe. etc.) to grow Study Abroad students from 450 to 3000 by the year 2020 for the second largest University in the nation.
•Recruits, develops, and retains talent that will advance the UCF Abroad goals and UCF’s internalization goals.
•Responsible for administrative and operational functions of the UCF Abroad office. Leads and monitors a team of Assistant Directors and staff members to execute all operational aspects of faculty-led, short-term, exchange, and provider programs.
•Responsible for leading and developing the UCF Abroad team to provide high-impact international experiences to students, while offering high-quality customer service to students and faculty.
•Assists in the review and development of the UCF Abroad strategic plan aligned with the university and UCF Global strategic plans. Responsible to develop yearly goals aligned with the UCF Abroad strategic plan, and executing activities to achieve these goals. Assesses the effectiveness and impact of global initiatives and recruitment strategies and determine untapped markets and/or experiences that would benefit students who desire to study abroad.
•Represents the UCF Abroad office during university wide committees and events.
•Represents the UCF Abroad office during local and national events, and maintains a professional network of study abroad and international professionals.
•Responsible for disseminating UCF Abroad initiatives to the UCF community.
•Serves as the expert in student mobility and primary point of contact for university departments to develop high-impact international student experiences, such as the Registrar’s Office, Student Financials, Financial Aid, Housing, and academic colleges.
•Responsible for developing and overseeing training and outreach activities to increase the number of faculty-led programs and participating students.
•Develops and completes annual effectiveness reports for the UCF Abroad office.
•Collaborates with faculty and departments, while leading the UCF Abroad Assistant Directors in developing high-quality study abroad programs based on a Regional Based Model.
•Responsible for providing effective and efficient program development processes for faculty and academic colleges.
•Oversees and develops the study abroad program catalog and is responsible for executing improvements adding, removing, and/or updating current programs. Sets the strategic direction to develop a diverse catalog offering for students to choose from.
•Responsible to build high-quality yet accessible programs enabling high-impact international experiences to UCF students.
•Responsible for offering a student centric experience throughout the program, including the application process, pre-departure activities, visa applications, and post-arrival activities.
•Responsible for developing and overseeing student advising services for all study abroad programs.
•Closely collaborates with the International Risk Management Officer to develop and maintain a high-level safety program for the students, including pre-departure activities and while-abroad safety plans.
