Global Programs is seeking an Associate Director who will provide leadership on matters related to immigration and visa regulations and acclimation to the university and community environments. The essential job duties are as follows: Supports the Director in the overall operation and management of the International Student and Scholar Advising office by assisting with fiscal planning, training, supervising and evaluating professional staff and, by supervising staff on the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor System) team; carries an active caseload of F-1 and J-1 students/J-1 scholars/H-1B, TN, E-3, and/or permanent residency cases as needed; remains current with immigration and regulatory updates and oversees federally mandated recordkeeping to ensure institutional compliance with Departments of Homeland Security (DHS), State (DoS), and Labor federal regulations and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Student and Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS); resolves discrepancies and understanding of advisers and external stakeholders to regulatory matters (Federal, State and Labor), SEVIS, and Penn State as well as office policies; provides general oversight of integrity of data flow and collaborates with IT on the data, alerts; compiles statistics for the office including the annual profile and Open Doors; provides oversight for basic information regarding taxes and coordinates with Global Connections on the tax program for international students and scholars; supports the academic mission by working collaboratively with academic departments and service units primarily on F-1, J-1, and H-1B regulatory issues as they pertain to student and scholar success; serves on campus-wide technical and business committees; and, provides general oversight to the external communications including web information, eForm creation and instructions.
