The International Student Services Intern will play a vital role in the implementation of several key SVSU programs aimed to provide transition support, social integration, and enrichment to current and incoming international students and scholars. This position will oversee every aspect of the International Student Orientation Program, including social activity coordination, student leadership recruitment and training, guest speaker coordination, large-scale community events, overall logistics, and post-event evaluation. This will be a part-time position requiring an average of 29.5 hours per week for a 10-month period, tentatively from July 2017 to May 2018, with flexible scheduling.
Assist in the development and maintenance of pre-departure and on-site international student orientation, with a focus on interactive programming and cultural elements
Work closely with Office of Advanced Studies & International Student Services, Student Life, and Global Village staff members to create intercultural programming for international and domestic students
Collaborate with existing student organizations such as International Student Ambassadors, International Student Club, etc. to create educational programming for international and domestic students.
Provide support for residents of Global Village living-learning residential community
Design/update training manual and handover materials for future Graduate Interns
Master’s degree candidate in International Education or related field
Previous experience as a study abroad student or as an employee in an international education office at a university
Previous experience designing cultural and/or orientation programming
Comfortable with public speaking and training
Previous experience working with student leaders
Ability to work evening and/or weekend hours
Valid US driver license

Additional Salary Information: *The intern will be provided with a $600 per month living stipend
*Total: $6,000 over the 10-month internship period
*The intern is responsible for securing his/her own off-campus housing and reliable transportation to/from the university
