The University of Vermont’s Office of International Education seeks a study abroad advisor with a passion for diversifying study abroad participation and the creativity and marketing know-how to help us reach our Generation Study Abroad goals. We’re looking for a talented individual to collaborate with team members on advising students on overseas study; administering bilateral exchange programs; engaging with the campus community to increase study abroad participation; and programming for students before and after study abroad. This advisor will take a lead role overseeing our peer advisor team which supports student-to-student education about study abroad, and on study abroad marketing, including social media.
The Office of International Education houses three functions: international student and scholar services, study abroad, and risk management support for faculty-led courses and student activities abroad. Minimum requirements Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in a position in a higher education or international education setting required. Effective interpersonal, listening and written communication skills required. Analytical, organizational and database management skills, with a keen attention to detail required. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of other cultures required. Additional desired qualifications: Experience advising students for international study. Aptitude for learning data management and work flow systems. Experience living, working or studying abroad.
