Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Supervises assigned staff and ensures international students, scholars and the university comply with federal rules and regulations for F-1 and J-1 visa holders. Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the University and advises on visa, immigration and SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) processes. Works closely with students and scholars to provide guidance on visa policies and procedures related to academic standing and university policies. Provides leadership in the office and serves as the department leader in the absence of the Director.

Responsibilities

1. Supervises assigned staff, providing regular support, feedback, training and oversight

2. Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for KSU’s F-1 and J-1 programs and as such, advises on a range of issues including immigration academic matters and life in the US

3. Collaborates with the Intensive English Program to provide immigration support and oversight for the university’s clock-hour ESOL program

4. Advises with leadership on issues related to SEVIS and visa compliance within the department

5. Provides assistance to the director with data analysis and reporting

6. Creates and participates in department programming, workshops, and events

7. Liaises with campus partners and departments as assigned and performs outreach collaboration for campus support and local community services 

8. Contributes to the development of the office through both short-term and ongoing projects and duties 

 

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's from an accredited institution of higher education in International Relations, Foreign Languages & Literatures, or related field

Other Required Qualifications
Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident per Federal government requirements for SEVIS access

Required Experience
Five (5) years of experience in higher education, international education or related fields with knowledge of F and J visa regulations and SEVIS including previous leadership and/or supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Sunapsis or similar electronic system

Preferred Experience
Experience studying or living abroad and/or ability to speak another language
Demonstrated intercultural competency and/or experience working with individuals from other cultures

Demonstrated success as a communicator in an international context and sensitivity to the complexities of cross-cultural communication
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
