Job Description:

Position Overview: The Student Activities Coordinator serves as part of a team of professionals in the Student Affairs Office. Reporting to both the Senior Assistant Dean of Students and the Athletic Director, the candidate will support various aspects of the division and help create a robust student life program. Responsible for oversight, administration, budgeting, management, and organization of The Maritime Programing Board (MAP), Student Government, Intramurals and Club Sports. Responsibilities include:

MAP & SGA Clubs

  • Oversee Maritime Activities and Programming board which includes campus wide event planning, contracts, advertising, organizing/attending retreats and conferences, team building, leadership initiatives and guidance.
  • Creates policy and procedures for clubs and organizations and assist with planning events/advertising.
  • Sole point of contact for the student Porthole; registrations, deactivations, rosters management for 70+ organizations, constitutions, advertisements, and maintenance. Ensure that student clubs are following policies and procedures revolving around the Porthole, advertising policies, requesting monies, reserving rooms and vehicles, etc.
  • Co advises (with the Dean of Students) the Student Government Association including attending weekly meetings
  • Chaperone night and weekend events and attend/facilitate evening meetings with clubs and organizations as needed.

Intramurals & Sports Clubs

  • Administration of the intramural sports programs, including scheduling, hiring and training of sports officials, marketing, player discipline, etc.
  • Develop and oversee a sports club program independent from the Athletic Department, in conjunction with student government
  • Revise all club sports and intramural sports rules, manuals and policies
  • Sporadic check ins at intramural games and on campus student workers

Student Workers/Game Room

  • Responsible for hiring, supervising, training, scheduling and payroll, of all student workers in intramurals, game room, and the billiards room.
  • Responsible for maintenance of the game room and billiards room, including ordering supplies, submitting work orders, general maintenance concerns, etc.

Orientation/Other Duties

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of all New Student Orientation sessions (summer and winter sessions).
  • Additional office events including, but not limited to New Student Arrival, Homecoming, Open Houses, Commencements, etc.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with Microsoft

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Prior experience working in Student Affairs

Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The Mental Health Counselor is a UUP position. The anticipated salary range for the position is $50,000 to $55,000 annually, with an outstanding benefits package. Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year appointment UUP Position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.

The position requires a flexible schedule, working a combination of days, nights, and weekends.
