Job Details

The Senior Coordinator for Spain and Study Abroad Advisor reports to the Assistant Dean of Off-Campus Study (OCS).  As Senior Coordinator for Spain, the position assumes primary responsibility for administrative support for functions of the Madrid Program of Hamilton College Academic Year and Semester in Spain. The Senior Coordinator resides in the U.S., will become fully acquainted with all aspects of the Madrid Program, will manage administration, logistics, recruitment planning, and support for faculty and staff in Madrid, and will provide student advising and liaison with sending colleges.  The Senior Coordinator role will include participation in program reorganization, policy, training, and operational procedures in partnership with the Assistant Dean of Off-Campus Study.

The Study Abroad Advising role offers an opportunity to become acquainted with the full portfolio of study abroad programs offered by Hamilton College and with partner organizations and universities.  OCS values advising as an integrative practice that links study abroad to academic and life goals of each student and engagement of faculty and campus special interest groups.  The Advising role will be comprehensive and shared with an excellent, enthusiastic, and committed team of study abroad professionals.  We value team engagement and correlation of strengths and interests to create an environment of advising excellence at all stages of the study abroad experience through graduation and beyond.  Two compelling initiatives of Off-Campus Study at Hamilton include the college initiative in Engaged Learning and the Curricular Integration Initiative to improve study abroad portfolios for individual academic departments and programs.

The ideal candidate for this position values diversity and equity, fosters inclusion, shares a commitment to the life-enhancing potential of global education, has skills and passion for social media and other means of study abroad “storytelling” and is interested in furthering professional skills that are greatly needed in the global education profession.  Off-Campus Study provides full support for ongoing training and professional development.

Company

Hamilton College is one of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges. It is independent, highly selective, coeducational and residential. Originally founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy and chartered in 1812 as the third oldest college in New York State, Hamilton is today composed of 1,850 students from nearly all 50 states and 50 countries. It is distinguished by a faculty of 190 men and women dedicated to teaching and scholarship, by rigorous academic programs, by an emphasis on teaching students to write well and speak persuasively, and by a commitment to diversity in its broadest sense. The College, with an endowment nearing $1 billion (October 2017), is need-blind in admission and has invested more than $265 million in new and renovated facilities in the past dozen years. Hamilton is located on a wooded 1,350-acre hilltop campus overlooking the New England-style Village of Clinton, New York, in close proximity to the Adirondack Park, where hiking, skiing, fishing, boating and snowmobiling abound. The campus is within a 4-5 hour drive of New York, Boston, Toronto and Philadelphia, and there is a rich variety of cultural opportunities on campus and in nearby Utica (10 minutes), Syracuse (45 minutes) and Cooperstown (55 minutes). As a national leader for teaching students to write effectively, learn from each other and think for themselves, Hamilton produces graduates who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to make their voices heard on issues of importance to their communities and the world.
