Description of Key Responsibility:
University Compliance:
• Serve as the Primary Designated School Official ( PDSO ) for F-I students and Responsible Officer (RO) for J-1 students.
• Responsible for institutional re-designation and re-certification and overall SEVIS management.
• Interpret and advise on complex U.S. immigration laws, regulations, policies and procedures with specific focus on F-1 and J-1 immigration regulations.
• Routinely consult with various areas on campus to develop protocol and ensure that the College is in compliance with SEVIS and U.S. Department of Homeland Security ( DHS ) mandates.
Advising and Immigration Services:
• Authorizes students to receive visa status, extensions of stay, reduced course loads, transfer to/from NCC and advises students who are out of status or in jeopardy of status violations.
• Point person/subject matter expert for any non-routine SEVIS resolution issues (reinstatement, change of status, overstay, employment issues), etc.
• Comprehensive knowledge of, and leadership for, the OPT (Optional Practical Training) and CPT (Curricular Practical Training) application process, as well as employment authorization (for off-campus work) and advising for on-campus hiring of international students.
• Support students in navigating international student insurance, filing of tax returns, obtaining a driver's license and social security issues.
• Provides travel signatures and advice, as well as documentation for supporting family members of international students for campus visits.
• Designs and implements an advising schedule, providing structure for regular advising availability to deliver both federal immigration and institutional knowledge to students.
• Create and implement communication methods to inform and remind F-1 and J-1 students of immigration status maintenance requirements throughout the year and after graduation.
• Assists in advising of undocumented students or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals ( DACA ) students, especially those that are considering study abroad opportunities.
Programming and Retention:
• In conjunction with the College's strategic direction, enhance programs and services aimed at the persistence of international students.
• Oversee, lead and manage all aspects of the International Living and Learning Community (I- LLC ). This includes but is not limited to the application, selection and placement process, programming, budgeting, and consultation for RA hiring and academic components.
• Serve as the co-advisor for the International Club, one of the largest student organizations on campus, and assist in designing and executing approximately three events/programs/excursions a semester to engage and support our international students.
• Design and implement an Orientation and Welcome Week Experience for international students, including on-campus arrival logistics, a complete orientation schedule, facilitation of sessions specific to international student success and compliance, and collaboration with campus partners to provide resources, campus familiarity, and community building opportunities. Oversee new international student orientations each term/semester.
• Effectively plan, manage and oversee the budget for International Student Services and Engagement.
• Oversee and facilitate the Friendship Family Program.
Graduate Assistant and Student Staff Supervision:
• Hire, train and supervise the Graduate Assistant (GA) for International Student Services and Engagement.
• Create and design thoughtful work for the GA to best support the Assistant Director for International Student Services and Engagement and to provide professional develop opportunities.
• Advise and foster leadership growth for the International Club executive board through clear position descriptions, intentional teamwork, and review processes.
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Support the College's mission, vision and values, and contribute to the advancement of the College's Strategic Plan.

Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:
A minimum of 3-4 years of progressive experience with international student services/success and previous experience maintaining SEVIS records according to USCIS rules and regulations.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident as required by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program ( SEVP ).
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record is required.
Position Summary:
• Oversee all aspects of international student services at NCC , including immigration-related matters and university compliance of federal regulations, as well as providing services and programs to best support international student persistence and student success.
• Responsible for advising international students on all immigration-related matters through training sessions, workshops and one-to-one advising.
• Identify and educate international students on key campus resources supporting the international student experience and student success, including but not limited to the Center for Career and Professional Development, the Dyson Wellness Center, Student Involvement and Student Success.
• Provide strategic leadership for comprehensive internationalization across campus and participate actively in shaping the College's global vision. Together with the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, other relevant university leadership, faculty, International Programs Committee ( IPC ), the CGE team, and the College at large, develop international plans and goals that support North Central College's ( NCC ) mission and strategic direction/initiatives.
• Provide leadership, expertise and direction in the development of international opportunities for students, faculty and staff.
