Job Responsibilities
Advises students, monitors progress toward degree completion and monitors retention for assigned CBA students. Serves as the initial point of contact for inquiries and referrals and escalates inquires/problems as needed to the appropriate person. Performs research and prepares statistical reports as assigned. Prepares handouts and handles check-in during orientation sessions for freshmen and transfers. Communicates with GAs about daily tasks. Updates advising information and works with Admissions to update recruiting materials, as needed. Initiates touchpoints regarding academic reminders and help for new, probation, readmitted and transfer students. Provides support for CBA activities/events, including graduation, induction, Business Acumen, student professional development events, and the Accounting, Mentorship and Professional Development Program. Manages the CBA Honors Reception each May, including handling invitations, developing a PowerPoint presentation on honorees, and preparing programs and certificates. Coordinates and manages the CBA tutoring program.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree; at least one year of experience in a higher education advising or student support role; and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Knowledge of student development theory and familiarity with CBA degree programs/ requirements. Must be flexible and good with detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal, analytical, conflict resolution, problem-solving, decision-making and team-building skills. Ability to work effectively on a variety of projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines; maintain confidentiality; and establish and maintain effecting working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public. Sufficient technical ability to master the software required to perform the job duties at a high level.
Preferred Qualifications
Academic advising experience; experience making group presentations; experience creating marketing/informational materials; and proficiency with Banner student recordkeeping software or similar.
