Overview The Mary Lyon Pilot High School is an autonomous, fully inclusive environment where general education students and their peers with emotional and behavioral disabilities are able to learn as unique individuals ready to meet the challenges of an increasingly diverse and global community. The program design is grounded in a unitary model of inclusion (one teacher licensed in content and special education) with 20 students (14 general education and 6 high needs students with disabilities) in Grades 7 - 12. At the Mary Lyon Pilot High School, we believe that each and every student is a child in development. As a result, we endeavor to build in each child a sense of confidence in his/her ability to learn and solve problems. Job Description The Director of Student Services directs the planning, development, organization, management, direction, and implementation of all aspects of student services programs at the MLUC. His/her/their responsibilities include alternative education (home tutoring, re-engagement, etc), child welfare and attendance, The essential functions of the Director of Student Services are as follows: Collaborate with Associate Head of School to monitor discipline/attendance trends and develop plans to specifically address identified needs at the school level Collaborate with Director of Teaching and Learning to lead school in an Equitable Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to ensure that all students have access to culturally responsive and rigorous learning opportunities that are academic, healing-centered and culturally/linguistically responsive Collaborate with counseling and wellness team to train staff on effective tier 1-3 behavioral interventions. Attend all IEP meetings and work with the Coordinator of Special Education (CoSE) to ensure IEP compliance (including staff expectations) Collaborate with CoSE, psychologist, and social workers to provide professional development on the IEP process including assessment, report, and effective goal writing Monitor student attendance and intervene appropriately by developing a plan in collaboration with social workers and family liaison. Collaborate with social and wellness team to develop train and implement research-based interventions to behavioral issues such as PBIS Collaborate with psychologist, social workers, and Associate Head of school to implement research-based behavior intervention plans Provide leadership and supervision to Social Workers, Psychologist, CoSE, and Family Liaison. Provide direction, coordination, and guidance to the district's counseling services and the MLUC, as needed. Organize and conduct training opportunities for staff related to student support services (e.g. Safety-Care, Equity, Anti-Bullying, Restorative Circles, etc.) Required Qualifications Master degree in educational leadership or related fields Three (3) years of successful teaching experience. Massachusetts license for School Principal/Assistant Principal or license in administration Massachusetts license in moderate disabilities Strong commitment to the inclusion of students with emotional and behavioral disabilities in general education environments. Strong ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment and maintain calm under pressure Strong leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, and personal characteristics to work effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents. Ability to establish a multi-cultural atmosphere that enhances individual growth and promotes a positive self-image. Preferred Qualifications Experience in teaching in an inclusive setting Experience in teaching in urban settings Experience in implementing restorative practices Terms BASAS, Group 10B, 211 days Salaries and benefits are in line with those received as employees of the Boston Public Schools. Working conditions are subject to the Mary Lyon Pilot High School annual Election to Work Agreement.
