Job Title: Director of Student Services

Supervision: Principal

Baystate Academy Charter Public School (BACPS) is a college preparatory charter school in Springfield, MA providing rigorous academic standards and educational opportunities rooted in health sciences to students in grades 6 - 12. Through unique partnerships with Baystate Health and EL Education, BACPS will prepare students to enter the world of higher education and healthcare careers with scientific knowledge, ethics, integrity, and compassion.

The Director of Student Services is responsible for the social-emotional wellness of our students. They will also support the development of our school culture and oversee our family engagement activities.

Job Responsibilities:

College and Career Readiness
  • Coordinate the implementation of our College and Career Readiness Program
  • Contact, schedule, and arrange guest speakers from the local business community, colleges, and military services to present information regarding specific occupations to support the career indicator
  • Schedule visitations by representatives from local colleges; organize, coordinate and publicize career-related events and other opportunities for students to learn about higher education and vocational training and preparation.
  • Collect college readiness assessment and matriculation data
  • Coordinate community service opportunities with local agencies

Social-Emotional Learning
  • Coordinate Social Emotional Learning Initiatives
  • Coordinate the implementation process social-emotional learning program for all grade levels
  • Track data for SEL implementation and fidelity of programming

  • Coordinator and primary contact for MTSS/ RTI
  • Organize and facilitate the MTSS/Response to Intervention process
  • Implement the 4 Tier RTI instructional/ behavioral systems to increase student achievement
  • Progress monitor students involved in the RTI process to ensure that interventions are implemented with fidelity and show student progress using graphs and charts.

Academic Advisory (Guidance Oversight)
  • Review and transcribe student transcripts for students transferring into the school.
  • Monitor and review transcripts of current students and schedule students for classes as needed. Adjust schedules as needed.
  • Create and maintain 4-year plans for all high school students showing a clear path to graduation, including any state testing requirements.

Family and Community Engagement
  • Coordinator for school-wide special programs - (family picnic/student recognition ceremonies /etc.)
  • Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate parent council
  • Coordinate community relations and parent access to service

Supervision of:
  • Guidance counselors
  • College and Career Counselor
  • Social Workers
  • Nurse
  • Physical Education Teachers


A competitive applicant will have:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred,
  • Minimum of five (5) successful years' experience as a school or district administration and teaching experience, preferably in a Title I school,
