POSITION TITLE: Special Education/Student Services Coordinator at NMHS - Anticipated

DAYS PER YEAR: 260 DAYS PER WEEK: 5 HOURS PER DAY: 8

QUALIFICATIONS:
•NH Certification in Special Education - Required
•NH Certification in Special Education Administration - Preferred
•3-5 years experience as special education teacher or related service provider
•Knowledge of special education laws and process
•Proven ability to communicate effectively

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services and Building Principal

SUPERVISES:
•Paraprofessionals and related services providers in the Middle/High School
•Collaborates with principal in the supervision of special education teachers.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pupil Services
•Ensure full compliance with state and federal guidelines for special education
•Ensure the implementation and compliance of IEP's by both special and regular education teachers
•Serve as LEA representative for both the middle and high school
•Provide consultation to special and regular education teachers
•Supervise and coordinate the scheduling of special education services for students
•Implement and evaluate effective programs based on needs, quality, cost-effectiveness, and make recommendations to the building principal and director of student services
•Provide for consultation on special education, curriculum, and programming
•Develop and maintain relationships with state and federal agencies
Personnel Administration
•Create a supportive working environment
•Assist in recruitment, selection, and recommendation for hiring of all special education personnel
•Work with the director of student services and the director of curriculum to implement a sound plan for the professional training of employees
•Evaluate assigned special education staff
•Provide supervision and professional support to paraprofessionals
Financial Management
•Ensure submission of and compliance with state and federal forms
•Work collaboratively with principal and director of student services to monitor use of grants
•Supervise staff to ensure proper reimbursement of special education costs (MSB, special education aid, etc.)
•Assure correct NHSEIS data being entered in a timely manner
•Develop and monitor all special education budget lines at building level
Public Relations
•Interact in a positive and cooperative way with all school, family, and
community members
•In conjunction with the building principal and/or director of student services provide school boards with reports and attend school board meetings when necessary
•Encourage awareness and public support for special education
•Keep in regular communication with sending district school
•Provide liaison with other community agencies
