Summary of Job Duties:

The Safe Zone Allies Student Network is a partnership between the University of Arkansas Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education and Counseling and Psychological Services. The Network welcomes students of all sexualities and gender identities who are interested in and committed to addressing issues and topics of importance to the LGBTQIA+ community. The network meets weekly to learn about and discuss LGBTQIA+ history, gender and sexual identities, community cultures and norms, the laws and policies that affect the LGBTQIA+ community, heteronormativity and oppression, and more. Students who participate in the network can gain certification.

The Safe Zone Allies Student Network Student Co-Coordinators are responsible for network marketing and recruitment, creating and gathering materials for presentations, facilitating weekly meetings, and cultivating a connection with and community among network members. The co-coordinators will also work with the staff coordinator, meeting weekly to discuss progress and planning. Administrative tasks, such as taking attendance during meetings and managing network files, also fall on the student co-coordinators. This position will be filled by two people, so it is crucial that the two co-coordinators work together to accomplish the required tasks.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • University of Arkansas undergraduate student, sophomore standing or above
  • Microsoft Suite proficiency
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely as needed
  • Knowledge of and experience with Safe Zone Allies and/or other campus LGBTQIA+ initiatives
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Safe Zone Allies student certification
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75

Additional Information:

Salary Information:

$12.00 per hour
