Job Description:

SUNY Empire State College's office of Center for International Education seeks an experienced professional to manage key initiatives and projects as part of a dynamic, global team of faculty and staff dedicated to bringing the best of SUNY Empire to an international student body while serving New York based students with cross-cultural learning opportunities.

Based in Saratoga Springs, New York, the Associate Director will actively engage in intercultural work connecting the diverse programs abroad with essential coordinating functions in New York State.

Since 1972, international programming has been part of SUNY Empire's history, extending an American liberal arts education and the opportunity to earn a SUNY degree to students residing outside the United States. Current partnerships include educational sites in: Albania, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Greece, Lebanon, and Turkey.

The Associate Director (State Title: Staff Associate) is a professional employee reporting to the Executive Director of the Center for International Education and works directly with a small team of dedicated staff in the Center for International Education. The Associate Director will thrive in a fast-paced, varied work environment with the opportunity to showcase talents in a variety of job duties. The successful candidate will find creative ways to develop systems and strategies to streamline and expedite essential functions, while respecting the unique needs of international students and faculty. The Associate Director will work closely with offices across the college as well as with program directors and coordinators abroad to:

* Assist the Executive Director in assessing viability of new partnerships through research and market analysis.
* Perform essential finance and budget support; assist the Executive Director in analysis and information gathering for year-end analysis, aging reports, quarterly reports, and invoicing of partner institutions.
* Serve as primary liaison for international student services; work closely with the Office of the Registrar to fulfill all official document requests, coordinate military and veteran benefits, respond to student requests for accommodation and conflict resolution.
* Communicate effectively and promptly with students, faculty, staff, and partner institutions.
* Proactively maintain open communication between the coordinating center and all international locations for the resolution of programmatic and student issues.
* Manage the admissions process for incoming international students.
* Coordinate Collaborative Online International Learning and virtual exchange, including online international residencies.
* Maintain international webpages and develop relevant content for international student audiences.
* Manage all faculty-led study tours for travel abroad.
* Manage insurance for incoming and outgoing travelers.
* Coordinate expansion of cultural exchange for underrepresented groups.
* Manage scholarship and grant opportunities to fund expansion of global learning initiatives.
* Serve as the collegewide Primary Designated School Officer (PDSO).
* Manage commencement ceremonies for all international locations.
* Support international visiting scholars, working with SUNY Office of Global Affairs to ensure compliance with U.S. visa regulations.

Requirements:

*Required Qualifications:*

* Bachelor's Degree required.
* Minimum of three to five years of significant administrative experience.
* Demonstrated willingness to work with diverse populations at a distance.
* Ability to respond to rapidly changing situations with strategic diplomacy.
* Manage multiple priorities with professionalism.
* Ability to conduct virtual meetings with ease and communicate via email in a culturally sensitive way.
* Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel as a tool for budgeting and analysis.

*Preferred Qualifications:*

* Master's degree.
* Experience in multicultural or international professional settings.
* Experience teaching and/or working in a higher education.
* Knowledge of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) system.

*Special Information:*

* May involve occasional international travel.
* VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

Additional Information:

*Rank/Salary: *SL4/$70,000-$75,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
