Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President, Enrollment Management and Retention, the Assistant Director, Admissions and Student Enrollment is responsible for executing a comprehensive, strategic enrollment plan to achieve enrollment targets for University College (UC) in support of a wide range of academic and professional development programs that places students at the center. The Assistant Director is a key member of a growing enrollment team at UC, focused on supporting the division's innovative student-centered education philosophy. The incumbent will lead a team of admissions and recruitment professionals in engaging students at all phases of the admissions journey through multiple channels including face-to-face recruiting, communications plans, digital marketing and community partnerships and ensure student success throughout their relationship with UC.

Enrollment Plan Implementation
  • Provide overall leadership and supervision to the operations side of the Admissions Office to include application services, campus communication, transfer admission and credit evaluation, graduate and professional school admission and application processing.
  • Develop proactive and nimble strategies to adjust to changing environments and trends in enrollment management and application processing at both the undergraduate and graduate level, using best practices and current technological solutions.
  • Operate with a student-centered approach to admissions and enrollment with a particular focus on effectively serving students who have historically been excluded from higher education.
  • Assist in the processing, communication and acceptance policies to reflect best practices, meet federal guidelines and enhance the ease with which students engage in each process.
  • Increase the enrollment of veterans among our UC students and positively impact their ease of enrollment and use of benefits.
  • Conduct high-level data collection and analysis, query management, data tracking, and data reporting in achieving the UC enrollment and use this data to inform decision making.
  • Report on current and future trends, benchmarking statistics and student search data and activity.

Department Leadership and Management
  • Assist with effectively leading the enrollment team and build bandwidth by finding efficiencies via automation and/or streamlined business processes.
  • Evaluate technology needs and employ to facilitate the collection of data, meet the transactional expectations of students, and assist in managing the individual tasks in the office.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President to support a team culture in which staff feel valued, communicate easily with each other and, are supported in their development as professionals.
  • Review and enforce all union contracts that pertain to staff.

Additional Functions
  • Maintain a strong campus presence, nurturing relationships with various University constituents for UC campus and Bristol campus, as needed.
  • Provide administrative, professional, or technical services, as needed, and in accordance with their expertise to any and every issue, project or program assigned by supervisor or supervisor's designee.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Multiple years of progressive, hands-on admissions and higher education experience.
  • Proficiency in managing data systems, data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation with the ability to convey and obtain information amongst a variety of audiences such as students, parents, alumni and staff.
  • Strong intercultural fluency and the ability to serve students from diverse backgrounds.
  • A commitment to, and experience with, breaking down barriers to education for individuals from disadvantaged and marginalized backgrounds.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines and adept at shifting skills to accommodate changing priorities with the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Proven ability to function independently under minimum supervision and take the lead in projects, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Available to work nights and weekends.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Prior experience in a lead admissions or advising role.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another non-English language a plus.
