The Regional Admissions Recruiter participates in the planning and execution of the recruitment activities associated with attracting and enrolling students who represent the priority enrollment goals outlined for the Undergraduate Admissions office.
Two positions are available: one to cover the Metro Miami area and another to cover the Metro D.C. area. Applicants should live within driving distance to these areas.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a representative to University at Albany undergraduate admissions to focus on generating inquiries and applications from qualified students for first time and transfer admission.
- Consult with Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Assistant Director for Technology and Research about lead development for region such as PSAT, SAT, AP, and ACT name buys and assist in determining regional Naviance advanced awareness competitors.
- Regularly monitor Lead and inquiry activity from region. Qualify leads/inquiries based on intended academic major and any qualitative and demographic information for appropriately tailored follow-up.
- Examine historical application activity and trends, focusing on three- and five-year averages as well as year-to-year data.
- Consult with Enrollment Marketing on messaging specific to regional niche markets; publicizing specific outreach efforts being held within a region (interviews; evening information receptions; accepted student receptions; summer send-off parties.)
- Based on lead, inquiry, and historical application analysis develop annual fall and spring schedules of individual high school outreach. This includes email announcements to schools and student leads/inquiries and mailing of posters announcing pending visits.
- Develop and maintain a regional network of high school counselors and community-based organizations and maintain an ongoing communication stream about regional outreach activities (e.g. regional interviews; prospective applicant and accepted student receptions; summer sendoff parties for admitted students.) Periodically organize UAlbany specific, or in collaboration with other institutions, counselor information sessions for high school counselors.
- Attend regional college evening, day, and weekend "fair" programs as appropriate.
- Advise all inquiries, applicants, and admits that the counselor serves as a territory manager and resource about UAlbany.
- Coach incomplete applications through to completed status.
- Coach applicants through the financial aid application process.
- Engage in congratulatory phone follow-up with admitted students.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
- 1-3 years of experience in admissions, sales, customer service, advising, counseling, or related field
- Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with a culturally and geographically diverse population
- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
- Valid/clean driver's license to operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to travel extensively and work some weekends/evenings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Evidence of strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- High level of initiative and motivation
- Strong technology skills and experience with Microsoft Office and customer relationship management (CRM) software, such as Slate
- Knowledge of the undergraduate experience at UAlbany or comparable institution
