*Salary Range:*Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.*Job Summary:*The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission is responsible for representing SMU to prospective students and evaluating all admissions applications in assigned domestic territories, as well as internationally. Position will include management of projects that are not specifically based on region.*Essential Functions:*Recruit prospective undergraduate students to the University. Travel extensively in assigned areas. Follow-up with prospects and applicants through various communication sources. Provide information to prospective students and parents both on and off campus.Conduct market research for recruitment region and create strategic plan. Communicate and build relationships with alumni, current students, parents, high school counselors, and independent counselors in recruitment region. Participate in college fairs, high school visits, case studies, and panels. Initiate and participate in activities to yield accepted students to matriculation.Review and analyze admission applications. Communicate with students and/or high schools to complete admission files. Complete second reads on previously evaluated applications. Participate in all admission committee review meetings. Inform students, parents and staff of application status.Manage and develop programming and recruitment strategies that support office and university initiatives.Assist with admission programs as assigned. Attend meetings/conferences. Attend all division and team meetings, as well as attend staff development activities. Support recruitment programs as appropriate and assist with other Enrollment Services areas as needed. Management of projects not exclusive to region which may include but are not limited to website, social media, CRM, and vendors.Conduct Information Sessions to a variety of campus visitors and provide on-call counselor support.Events outside the normal work day often take place (e.g., College Fairs, School visits, Preview events and Yield events). These events may be in the evening or on the weekend.This position requires frequent travel. Travel season occurs for approximately three months in the Spring and three months in the Fall. Other occasional travel may be required both local and regional.

Qualifications
*Education and Experience:*A Bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of three years’ experience in selective admission environment is required. Previous admission managerial experience is preferred. Knowledge of SMU and the city of Dallas is preferred. *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. A strong customer service orientation is essential.Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills. A strong attention to detail and accuracy are essential.Candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Computer experience and ability to learn new software is essential.A valid driver’s license and good driving history is required.
