The Assistant Director of Admissions provides high-level, personalized service to prospective students interested in Creighton University’s College of Nursing graduate and adult programs. This position is responsible for developing a recruitment plan and executing it to maximize enrollment for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. The role resides in Enrollment Management and works collaboratively with College of Nursing and other university units to implement the admissions plan.

This position is responsible for building the relationships necessary to recruit, admit and enroll new nursing students. This person will regularly conduct outbound phone calling and host virtual and in-person meetings with prospective students to discuss Creighton’s programs. The role also requires regular transcript reviews, unofficial prerequisites evaluations, and counseling students on remaining courses needed for prerequisite completion. The position is also responsible for representing Creighton University at off-campus events outside of Omaha, such as employer education fairs, nursing-related conferences, community college recruitment events, and events at schools partnered with Creighton. Lastly, this person will be responsible for reviewing admission files and finalizing admission decisions, following the guidelines set forth by the College of Nursing admission committee

Qualifications (KSA’s, Cert’s/licensure)


  • Bachelor’s Degree, required; Master’s Degree, preferred

  • 2 to 5 years experience in admissions, recruitment, advising or counseling

  • Willingness to travel/drive and work on weekends and nights as needed

  • Ability to communicate well with prospective students over the phone, via email, and in person

  • Ability to present pertinent information about Creighton University and the College of Nursing to both large and small groups

  • Knowledge of admission terminology, policies, and tests

  • Knowledge of transfer credit policies and procedures

  • Interpersonal/human relations skills

  • Planning and organizational skills

  • Ability to efficiently and effectively review transcripts

  • Ability to learn and apply institutional policies and procedures

  • Ability to demonstrate self-direction and motivation

  • Collaborative, team oriented and mission driven
