GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: FLSA: Hourly

Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. To assist the teacher, supervisor and/or aide in caring for the students and maintaining the physical environment of the school facility.

MAJOR TASKS:

* Helps maintain existing physical environment in good condition.
* Maintains interpersonal environment that:
* Fosters self-esteem, respect for others, and independence; and
* Provides for individual differences and abilities.
* Establishes good communication with teachers and paraprofessionals.
* Assists teacher, supervisor and/or aide in carrying out daily activities.
* Helps supervise students during education and play activities meeting their needs for

attention, guidance, and safety.

* Assists teacher, supervisor and/or aide, in leaving center/classroom cleaned, materials put away, and rooms locked.
* When requested, stays with teacher, supervisor, and/or aide until all children are picked up.
* Reports to teacher, supervisor, and/or aide.
* In charge of setting up activities & supplies before the students arrive.
* Helps with tutoring and academic assistance when necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

* High School student in good standing (must be 16 or older)
* Prefer experience with tutoring, peer mentoring.
* Exhibit flexibility, creativity, and willingness to learn.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have regular and reliable attendance, is regularly required to sit, talk and/or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

EVALUATION: At least once annually by the ESS Director in accordance with the Policy of the

Governing Board.
