About Us

The Stanford School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences (Stanford Earth) develops the knowledge and talent to understand the workings of the planet and to help solve resource and environmental challenges. Stanford is taking the historic step of creating a new school that will be focused on climate and sustainability, the first new school at the university in more than 70 years. Stanford Earth will become part of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability which will work towards a unifying goal of creating a future in which humans and nature thrive together in concert and in perpetuity. Faculty, students, and staff will pursue this goal through three primary pathways to impact:
  • Advancing knowledge critical to sustaining life on Earth
  • Preparing students as future sustainability leaders through rigorous, engaged education and research
  • Catalyzing informed action globally to generate and accelerate local, national, and global solutions to the defining challenge for humanity.

Living at a time of rapid environmental change and growing demand on Earth's resources, understanding how our planet works has never been more important, not only to satisfy our innate curiosity about how the world we live in came to be but also for ensuring a sustainable world for ourselves and future generations. The Department of Geological Sciences is dedicated to improving our understanding of planetary processes from core to atmosphere, as well as how those processes led to the origin and evolution of life on Earth -and perhaps other planets- and the formation of Earth's natural resources.

The Department is seeking an experienced and independent student services professional to join our team. The Assistant Director of Student Services will be responsible for all student services matters and will have a leadership role in the department.
