Develop, lead and oversee the assignment and implementation of strategic recruitment plans for the Undergraduate Admissions Department using thoughtful metrics while accounting for the overall goals of the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Division, and will be responsible for guiding direct reports to successfully implement the plan within their teams. The Executive Director will develop and nurture strong relationships with various academic departments across campus in order to expand the availability of staff and resources that will support the initiatives and ongoing programming that is essential to meeting SEM Division goals and the University’s It’s Time work. Oversee budget for Undergraduate Admissions, including establishing financial goals, monitoring, and adjusting to ensure budget is both met and sustainable in the long and short term.

Supervise department personnel, including but not limited to hiring, coaching and developing, promoting, rewarding, assigning and reviewing of work, directing work, approving transfers, disciplining, discharging and adjusting grievances to ensure the admissions process flows smoothly; ensure Advising and Registration days, campus visits and campus tours are coordinated and stay within the annual budget; collective bargaining agreements and Minnesota State policies and procedures are implemented and appropriately enforced, all applicable laws and regulations are implemented and enforced, and all employees and applicants receive equitable treatment.

Continuously monitor state-wide, regional, national, and international trends for both education and enrollment to ensure successful implementation of SEM Division goals as well as monitoring for impacts on our recruitment and admissions. Monitor and adapt plans as appropriate while being innovative with ideas on how to adjust to challenging trends.

Lead strategic initiatives/projects within the Strategic Enrollment division as assigned by the VP. Strategic initiatives/projects will primarily be focused on the University’s It’s Time work.

Create and promote a culture of inclusive excellence that is committed to advancing principles of equity, diversity and inclusion that demonstrates St. Cloud State University’s commitment to these principles. Oversee and supervise the Undergraduate Admissions Department to ensure the department operates in an effective and efficient way that demonstrates and builds on its reputation as a viable business partner within and outside (P-12 school districts, etc.) of St. Cloud State University.

Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of professional admissions experience or Master’s degree and three (3) years of professional admissions experience

Leadership experience in higher education

Three (3) years leading or supervising professional staff

Demonstrated Commitment to equity and inclusiveness; able to bring diverse perspectives and experiences together

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to remain adaptable and flexible to different situations and changes, including learning new systems and processes.

Demonstrated ability to analyze data/research and make recommendations to promote implementation of effective practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Broad understanding of marketing, financial aid, and student information system

Sophisticated understanding of enrollment strategies, market research, social media, and admissions

Change management experience
