*Scope of Job:*

Provide leadership and strategic support for all student affairs matters; including career advising, learning environment and student mistreatment, student advising and student affairs sponsored and other student events. Works independently to prioritize assignments and strategies to achieve the mission of the School of Medicine under the direct supervision and vision of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs.

*Description of Duties:*

* Provides leadership and strategic support for all student affairs matters; including career advising, learning environment and student mistreatment, student advising and student affairs sponsored and other student events, including serving as the liaison for Residency Match Day, Graduation and White Coat ceremonies
* Responsible for monitoring student satisfaction data from surveys and working with stakeholders in developing and monitoring interventions on an ongoing basis.
* Monitors and maintains current policies, procedures, and guidelines for fostering a positive learning environment free from student mistreatment, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards (LCME) and best practices.
* Serves as advocate for student concerns and needs with the faculty and administration. Facilitates access to counseling resources for personal and academic concerns.
* Oversees coordination of orientation programs for prospective and incoming students.
* Designs and implements improvements to the Student Affairs website with input and assistance from information technology personnel and students.
* Serves as Professionalism Officer of the Office of Student Affairs
* Assists with planning and implementing MS1 orientation
* Works with faculty and students in developing a Class Code
* Develops activities to promote growth of professionalism in students

* Oversees the annual MS3 Student Clinician ceremony.
* Serves on School of Medicine committees as appointed by the Dean.
* Assists the Associate Dean and staff with the following areas: student elections, class officers and student organizations. Specifically, advises student government and coordinates activities of other recognized student organizations and student programs.
* Serves as School of Medicine liaison to UTRGV alumni relations.
* Develops and maintains a working relationship with Student Accessibility Services.
* Represents the Office of the Medical Dean in Student Affairs interactions as needed.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

General supervision from assigned supervisor.

*Supervision Given:*

Direct supervision of assigned staff.

*Required Education:*

MD, EdD or PhD degree from an accredited university.

*Preferred Education:*

*Licenses/Certifications:*

None.

*Required Experience:*

Five (5) years of medical school experience. Experience in medical education.

*Equipment:*

Use of standard office equipment.

*Working Conditions:*

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required.

Exceptional planning and organizational skills. Skilled at organization and presentation of data using critical thinking skills to analyze and make recommendations based on data. Ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently. Excellent communication skills and ability to compose, proofread and edit various communications and prepare and give presentation to students and faculty Ability to maintain strictest standards regarding confidentiality of all student information.
