Summary: The Grand Valley State University Club Sports program is seeking a qualified Athletic Trainer to evaluate, manage, and treat injuries for student-athletes during practices, events, and competitions. This position is a temporary, part-time hourly position, with a wage rate of $25-$30.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Provide first aid and injury assessment for Club Sport student-athletes and opposing teams; make appropriate physician referrals as needed.
- Provide coverage at club sport practices, events, and home competitions, primarily between the fall and spring semesters.
- Maintain a line of communication with the GVSU Injury Care Clinic regarding recommended treatment/rehabilitation for athletic injuries.
- Maintain communication with Recreation & Wellness staff, coaches, parents, and student-athletes within legal parameters.
- Ensure completion of injury reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
- Assist with tracking supply needs, notifying staff when items need to be ordered/restocked.
- Cultivate a safe and inclusive environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
- Share and educate any relevant information to club sport coaches and/or student leaders.
Required Qualifications and Education:
- Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers' Board of Certification.
- Maintain current state licensure in accordance to the Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers.
- Maintain current First Aid, CPR, AED & Bloodborne Pathogen certification.
- Available for evening and weekend work.
- A reliable source of transportation.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties will be performed in various athletic facilities, both on and off GVSU's Allendale campus during evenings and weekends.
