We are looking for a Tutor to join our Sewa International AmeriCorps Atlanta program to help students review class assignments, review examinations and prepare for tests both inside and outside the classroom. A Tutor is responsible for helping students learn and understand new concepts and complete assignments. They prepare lessons by reviewing textbooks in detail to understand the topic they will be teaching and providing additional projects if needed during a session. Ultimately, you will assist students in gaining a better understanding of concepts taught in the classroom. You may also communicate with site coordinators/supervisors to track progress. Tutor responsibilities include: • Half Time (HT) AmeriCorps members serve minimum of 900 hours from September 1 2022 to June 30 2023 • Reviewing classroom or curricula topics and assignments • Subject based academic tutoring of 8 - 9 students • Facilitate interaction with students and other tutors to plan and coordinate lessons • Demonstrate academic competence in the subject area and build curriculum • Assisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks • Assisting students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom • Track student's learning progress, growth and advancement. Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning and teaching practice • Facilitate problem-solving with a curious mind and critical thinking skills • Collaborate effectively with site coordinators/supervisors to increase student performance • Attend weekly training and meetings • Plan and execute weekend fun activities for the kids onsite from time to time • Maintain timesheets and hours spent tutoring, site visits, training etc. and get them approved by program director Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
