The mission of the Department of Political Science, part of the College of Sciences and Mathematics,is to promote scholarship and responsible citizenshipby providinga comprehensive curriculum that exposes students to the principal subfields of the disciplineand encourage critical analysis and communication skills.The department's faculty are actively involved in research, teaching, and applied scholarship. Theymentor students by encouraging academic challenge and civic involvement in an environment that values diversity.

The ideal candidate's experience, substantive specializations, and pedagogical training will serve to strengthen the department's mission and vision. Thefaculty memberwilluse innovativeteaching skills anddemonstrate attention to the learning and teaching needs of the students; andteach undergraduate and/or graduate courses offered in-person and online in both synchronous and asynchronous formats.The faculty member will collaborate with other departmental faculty and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduatelevelcourses inthe areasof InternationalRelations, ComparativePolitics,Global Studies,andregional& transnationalfocus onissues related toHuman Rights, Sustainable Development, Energy Policies, andClimate Change.Additional courses withinareaof specialization may be assigned based on departmental needs.
  • Engagein scholarly activities such as research, presentations, and publications.
  • Servethe University and the community through participation in various committees.
  • Mentoringand advising students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. inPolitical Science (ABD may be considered. Must be completedon or beforeAugust2023).
  • Experienceteachingcourses inInternationalRelations, Comparative Politics, and/or Global Studies.
  • Experienceteachingspecializedcourses in Middle East,NorthAfrica,Sub-Saharan Africa, and/or transnational issues.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing course curriculum.
  • Ability to develop specialized courses inInternational Relations, Comparative Politics, and/or Global Studies.
  • Experience with innovative pedagogies.
