Job Description

Advise F and J visa holders in student and scholar categories including degree seeking, bi-lateral exchange and non-Georgia Tech sponsored students, student interns, and research scholars on immigration regulations. Provide adjustment and integration support. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Unit management and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: International students, scholars, staff and faculty. This position will supervise: NA.

 

Job Duties

Job Duty 1 -

 

Identify, interpret, and apply relevant law, government, and institutional policy within the scope of advising international students and visiting scholars as Designated School Official (DSO)/Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).

 

Job Duty 2 -

Functional responsibilities may include: communication and student support, Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) compliance, student engagement and professional development, scholar advising, data management, and report generation.

 

Job Duty 3 -

Develop and maintain partnerships on and off-campus to advocate for the International Student & Scholar (ISSS) community.

 

 

Job Duty 4 -

Support orientation, cultural adjustment, co-curricular engagement, advocacy, and professional development programs.

 

 

Job Duty 5 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Required:

 

 

Must be a US citizen or permanent resident. One to two years of job related experience.

Preferred:

Experience in a university environment advising international students on F-1 and J-1 visas. Experience using BANNER and Sunapsis or other batch system. Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two to three years of job related experience.
