Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Admissions and Student Experience will serve as an integral part of the admissions team that supports the established enrollment goals for the School of Law. The primary responsibility associated with this position is prospective applicant and admitted student recruitment. This position will serve as the first point of contact for recruiting prospective students and will have significant duties and responsibilities representing the School of Law at local, regional and national recruiting events.

The Assistant Director of Admissions and Student Experience will assist in planning, organizing, and executing the Law School's recruitment and admissions programming. This will include organizing and hosting campus visits, open houses, and other recruiting events. The person in this role will provide admissions counseling to prospective and admitted students. They will be responsible for cultivating relationships with external partners including pre-law advisors and academic counselors to create and strengthen recruitment pipelines. They will also work closely with other Admissions Directors to create content for print and digital marketing materials.

This position will involve extensive in and out-of-state travel. On average, this position will travel 2-3 days per week with especially heavy extended travel during the fall recruiting months.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Familiarity with UGA School of Law, i.e, faculty, activities, programs, courses, student life in Athens, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Skill in public speaking and delivering presentations to individuals and groups.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position is prospective applicant and admitted student recruitment. This person will travel to and participate in Law School Admission Council forums, college and university graduate and professional school fairs, and speak to clubs and other organizations dedicated to preparing students for law school. This person will also be responsible to reaching out to pre-law advisors on campus where an event is being held.

Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities

Assist with current on-campus Open Houses and admissions events. Take proactive initiative to create new pipeline programs.

Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities

Impart information to callers and visitors seeking information about the School of Law. Give personal tours to individuals and groups and work with student ambassadors.

Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities

Assist with the development of various printed materials (viewbook, brochures) and creation and maintenance of website and social media content.

Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities

Collaborate with team members to create and promote programming centered around diversity and inclusion. This would also include working with alumni on matters involving diversity and inclusion.

Provide direct follow up with prospective applicants met at recruiting events. This follow up will mainly be in the form of email communication. This person will also be responsible for reporting any information received about prospective applicants back to the Office of Admissions to be entered in the internal database.
