Job Description:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Admission, the Assistant Direct of Admission will assist in the development and carrying out of an effective recruitment strategy and strategic plan to meet enrollment targets.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge base about the University and its academic and extracurricular programs and articulate these programs in a manner consistent with the University’s strategic plan to prospective students, their families and guidance counselors.
  • Recruit prospective first year students by conducting high school visits and attending college fairs in selected territory; cultivate selected territory by developing relationships with guidance and college counselors and by increasing application and deposit activity; provide regular territory analysis and feedback.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the Office of Admission through daily admission presentations, interviews, on and off campus admission events including, but not limited to Open Houses and Accepted Student Days, as well as email, online chats and call campaigns.
  • Meet application through enrollment targets by assisting with the completion, review and conversion of freshmen applications for designated territory; review applications for admission in a timely fashion.
  • Oversee application-based scholarship program, including: development of the scholarship applications, development of a communication plan to accepted students about the scholarships, creation and distribution of scholarship reports, and serving as liaison to other departments and offices as necessary.
  • Serve as liaison to faculty and on campus departments as needed regarding enrollment and recruitment events. Work with the Director of Enrollment Management Events to communicate with and confirm attendance prior to enrollment events, as well as provide appropriate follow up after events have concluded.
  • Serve as Social Media liaison to Marketing & Communication, overseeing Admission-related social media opportunities and coordinating with current student ambassadors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Relevant experience in admission, enrollment management, or higher education is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Understanding of discretion related to handling confidential information is required.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, mornings, and weekends is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Technolutions Slate, and Ellucian Banner is preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities with short notice and changing deadlines is preferred.


Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the employee include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30am-3:00pm. Occasional early morning, night, and weekend hours required for recruitment and events.

Travel

This position requires extensive periods of travel throughout the traditional undergraduate recruitment seasons. Travel may be both domestic and international, and overnight travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.


Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Experience in admission or higher education is preferred.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
