Euro University of Bahrain (“EUB”) invites applications for a Director of Recruitment, Admissions, and Registration. The post provides an unparalleled opportunity for a talented, ambitious individual to take on senior leadership responsibility for student recruitment as part of an outstanding, international, collegial team who are passionate about developing a new centre of international higher education in the Gulf Cooperation Council (“GCC”) region.


The Director will be the key senior leadership role in EUB’s recruitment, admissions, and registration activities. Additionally, the Director will help shape EUB’s academic portfolio to reflect market needs and student demands. The Director will also represent EUB externally to a broad range of stakeholders to help enhance EUB’s profile and meet student recruitment targets as well as contribute to EUB’s vision, mission, and ethos, and play a pivotal role in the strategic development of EUB. The post is a full-time position based in Bahrain, and it will require international travel in the region and to Europe.

ABOUT EURO UNIVERSITY OF BAHRAIN: EUB is a new private university in development in Manama, Bahrain following over a decade of planning and consultation with various stakeholders and regulators both in Bahrain and in a number of European countries. EUB has been granted its licence from the Higher Education Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain following its approval from the University of London as a Recognised Teaching Centre. From this autumn, EUB will initially offer the University of London’s International Foundation Programme with progression onto University of London degree programmes. Over the next few years, EUB plans to steadily increase its academic programmes, expanding into different discipline areas and postgraduate degrees. Upon completion of its state-of-the-art campus, EUB will be the largest private university in terms of facilities and students in the GCC region with an international reputation for academic excellence. EUB’s strategic plan is to develop a distinctly European campus with key partners across Europe, offering an outstanding student experience, generating internationally leading research, and engaging meaningfully in the region and globally. We are looking for an exceptional, enthusiastic, experienced higher education student recruitment professional who will play a key role in leading EUB’s student recruitment as well as developing this exciting project.

Role Descriptor

Summary of the role:  The Director of Recruitment, Admissions, and Registration has overall senior responsibility for all aspects of student recruitment, student admissions, and student registration at the Euro University of Bahrain (the “University”), leading and managing staff in order to deliver successfully strategic objectives of the University in these areas.

  • Provide inspiring academic leadership internally and externally as a key member of the University’s senior leadership team.
  • Represent and contribute to the University’s vision, mission, and ethos.
  • Lead on specific initiatives and work as part of a team to deliver the wider objectives of the student recruitment function, including collaboration with key colleagues in academic department and central administration.
  • Identify opportunities for promoting EUB to prospective students and to operationalise those innovative ideas and opportunities.
  • Develop new initiatives to recruit students to agreed target numbers to current and new programmes.
  • Achieve student recruitment targets.
  • Provide overall leadership for student admissions and registration.
  • Ensure an optimal student experience from the initial recruitment phase through all stages of study and to graduation and beyond.
  • Plan, prepare, coordinate, and manage a variety of events as part of the student recruitment programme, including open days, information days, seminars, webinars, workshops, and campus tours.
  • Coordinate recruitment through presentations and events at school and fairs as well as working directly with prospective students, guidance counsellors and parents.
  • Take overall responsibility for enquiries from prospective students via email, social media, telephone, and in person.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective students and offer holders by prioritising all communication promptly and professionally.
  • Work with data management systems (e.g., CRM) to inform and prioritise actions, innovation and enhancement of current student recruitment activities and engagement.
  • Maintain and analyse data relating to student recruitment patterns and competitor offerings. Using data to inform and prioritise actions, innovation and enhancement of current student recruitment activities and engagement.
  • Manage promotional platforms including CRM, social channels (TikTok, Instagram, Twitter) and digital channels including website to enhance the user experience
  • Monitor EUB's website to ensure data is current and effective.
  • Produce weekly monthly, and annual statistical recruitment reports for senior leadership.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of domestic, regional, and international markets and recruitment trends.
  • Work with the students’ union, and with students more broadly, to ensure appropriate input from the student voice and contributions to recruitment activities.
  • Represent the University at global, regional, and national forums and participate in relevant professional networks in order to be aware of relevant current trends in international higher education and academic disciplines and to disseminate this to colleagues.
  • Promote mutually beneficial partnerships at the local, regional, national, and international levels with other educational institutions, accreditation and professional bodies, businesses, governments, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements (including health and safety, intellectual property, data protection, etc.) and with University strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Effectively manage budgets in accordance with University and other relevant financial regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with procurement procedures to ensure they are followed at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data security guidelines and in accordance with the University’s information security policies.
  • Other tasks as required to assist EUB’s senior management, with an appreciation that role descriptors may change over time due to institutional demands.

 
 

Person Specification

  • Masters degree or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience and a successful track record of leading on student recruitment and admissions, preferably involving a UK and/or other European higher education institution.
  • Strong knowledge of student recruitment in the Gulf Cooperation Council as well as the wider region and/or a keen willingness to quickly supplement one’s knowledge.
  • A good network with key stakeholders in the student recruitment community.
  • Ability to manage people, budgets and other resources, and deliver projects.
  • Ability to achieve performance targets and supporting others to meet their performance targets.
  • Knowledge one or more of the UK (QAA, Office of Students), European (one or more EU countries and the Bologna Process), international, and/or Bahrain (HEC, BQA) educational systems and/or a keen willingness to supplement one’s knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent English and knowledge or Arabic and/or one or more European languages.
  • Ability to work with multiple digital technologies and a solid comprehension of mobile and web technology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively, internally and externally.
  • Experience of working with Trans-National Education (TNE) partnerships in the higher education sector, preferably with a European higher education institution.
  • High character with a strong commitment to ethical behaviour.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • In line with mandatory national law, (i) must be fit to work in terms of health and not be over the age of sixty upon assuming office, (ii) no criminal or disciplinary record, and (iii). and comply with other regulatory requirements.
