*Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:*The mission of the School of Nursing is to enhance and improve the health and well-being of the people of North Carolina and the nation, and, as relevant and appropriate, the people of other nations, through its programs of education, research, and scholarship, and through clinical practice and community service. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master’s degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Today, the School is renowned for its academic programs, its research and its commitment to clinical and community service within state, national and global communities.
*Position Summary:*The Associate Director of Recruitment and Admissions leads the overall recruitment and admissions initiatives for all School of Nursing degree and certificate programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. As such, the position’s principal functions include overseeing/leading the recruitment efforts for two undergraduate, three graduate and two specialty programs; making residency decisions for tuition purposes for selected student groups; overseeing/leading a seamless undergraduate and graduate admissions program (including supervising staff supporting recruitment endeavors and application processing as well as training and overseeing all admissions committees); managing/analyzing/interpreting recruitment and admissions data with precision and accuracy so as to advise the School of program trends and comparing with industry projections; and serving as the School’s primary admissions contact by advising prospective students across all programs and liaising with other University departments and external entities as needed. The Associate Director reports to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.
*Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:*Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in substitution.
*Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:*At least five years’ work experience in admissions and/or recruitment within higher education, experience supervising staff, and experience advising and counseling students are required. Other position requirements include: superior interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities and deadlines; ability to collaborate with a wide variety of constituents; ability to solve complex problems in a timely manner; ability to gather, synthesize, and interpret data for reporting purposes; a proven ability to manage programs, including planning and resource allocation; and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in all aspects of scope of service.
*Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:*This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
