Job Summary:
This position recruits high school and adult students to the college, selling the opportunities, benefits and advantages of a community college education at Indian Hills Community College. Conducts admission activities that are within College policies and in accordance with professional ethics established by the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC).
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience in college admissions preferred.
- Experience in customer service or recruiting.
- Knowledge of software utilized in recruiting students and moving them through all stages to become enrolled including Microsoft office suite, client relationship management (CRM), and familiarity with communication through various forms of social media.
- Experience with a community college as staff or student preferred.
- Ability to develop a thorough knowledge of the academic and extra-curricular offerings at IHCC.
- Ability to establish and maintain ongoing relationships with students, their parents, high school guidance counselors and teachers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bi-lingual is preferred.
Work Performed:
- Manages a recruiting territory in an assigned geographic area.
- Plans travel, visits high schools and represents the College at college day/night programs and other recruiting fairs.
- Communicates with prospective students and families to determine their interest in Indian Hills Community College.
- Give presentations about the college in individual and group settings.
- Prepares written reports and completes office activities as assigned.
- Maintain contact with prospective students through CRM including follow-up communication by phone calls, social media interaction, web chat/Skype, and TextAim to help answer their questions and move on to the next step in their admission cycle.
- Have the ability to work with prospective students in navigating all steps of the admissions process from inquiry, application, orientation and ultimately registration.
- Assist students with information about the transition to college. Have the ability to give general advice on college life, academic programs, student activities and organizations, and student life. Assist new students with determining academic and career goals by advising them on academic programs available.
- Have an integral role during on-campus visit days and other relevant events.
- Develop presentations and student panels for all visit days and orientation events.
- Connect students with useful college resources or outside support services.
- Work with the Admissions Student Ambassador program and assist with trainings and events.
- Represent the college in a positive manner.
- Accept and perform responsibilities that may require work to be performed other than normal assigned hours (night and weekend). Ability to travel overnight.
- Ability to work with limited supervision. Willing to be student-focused while following college regulations. Ability to focus on completing tasks for goal attainment. Ability to be innovative and make sound decisions.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
