The Office of Undergraduate Admissions ( OUA ) is housed in the Division of Enrollment Management, home to the Student Success Center, Financial Aid Office, Student Advising, Career Planning and more. OUA is tasked with attracting and enrolling undergraduate students to UWM's three campuses. The department oversees recruitment, visits and events, operations (application processing), the CRM (Slate), marketing and communications. The team works to attract undergraduate students from a variety of groups: first time freshmen, first generation college students, transfer students, re-entry students, adult students.
Job Summary
This position provides leadership and directs New Student Programs and Orientation and Transition programs for incoming undergraduate students and their families as they commit to enrolling in UWM . In support of UW System, campus and unit strategic enrollment goals, responsibilities include effective development, evaluation, and implementation of existing and new orientation and transition programs and services; development, oversight, and supervision of permanent and student staff; and budget and resources management.
While navigating the day-to-day supervision and management of the New Student Programs team, the Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating those operations in line with the unit and department strategic enrollment goals, created in collaboration with both the NSP staff as well as partners across OUA . The incumbent serves on the Office of Undergraduate Admissions leadership team and other campus committees. The position reports to one of the Associate Directors of the office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree. While the major field is not critical, majors in social work, student personnel, business, guidance, and counseling related fields would provide a strong background for this position
- At least four (4) years of experience in student affairs working with a diverse student population and/or event management
- Experience supervising or advising staff (student or professional)
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in student affairs, higher education, college student personnel, or other related field
- Experience leading New Student Programs/Orientation or Transition programming in a higher education setting
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing social justice/diversity/equity/inclusion initiatives
- Experience or demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities
- Experience leading collaborations and communications among multiple partners and stakeholders
- Experience utilizing Customer Relationship Management ( CRM ) and data management systems in collaboration with content experts
