Description of Department:

SUNY Oswego is recognized as a leader in international education nationally and within the State University of New York, offering a wide range of education abroad programs, international student services and recruiting, and campus international activities. The Office of International Education and Programs (OIEP) serves both domestic and international students, scholars, and campus colleagues for continued campus internationalization. The department has been recognized nationally and internationally by the leading international education professional organizations for excellence, innovation, and commitment to diversity, including: IIE, Diversity Abroad, AASCU, and others. OIEP supports international activities of the university's academic departments, provides support for faculty members and departments to internationalize, and encourages a vibrant international campus culture.

The Office of International Education and Programs at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full-time Associate Director for International Enrollment.

Description of Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate engagement with prospects and applicants at all stages of the application, admission, and enrollment processes utilizing CRM and appropriate communications platforms
  • Supervise staff responsible for international recruitment and partner relations, and help recruit international students for degree seeking academic programs at SUNY Oswego contributing to overall recruitment
  • Maintain and oversee existing, and develop new, promotional publications and websites
  • Engage with campus offices responsible for undergraduate and graduate admissions to expedite appropriate reviews of international student applications, and with those containing institutional data so as to track statistics and assess information related to optimal international student enrollment
  • Manage and improve internal enrollment management processes in order to maximize communications planning, prospective student engagement, scholarship positioning, and recruitment-to-enrollment pipeline
  • Liaise with appropriate campus offices on behalf of international students and scholars (e.g., residence life, student affairs, health center, new student orientation) to resolve problems related to international student admission, registration, and records processing
  • Working under the PDSO/RO, assist with and supervise staff responsible for required immigration regulatory Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) program for purposes of admitting and ensuring compliance for international degree seeking and exchange students (as well as visiting scholars) to SUNY Oswego
  • Plan and deliver international student arrival and orientation each fall and spring and attend to all related issues, supervising staff and student workers, troubleshooting, and otherwise ensuring a smooth and welcoming program
  • Advise incoming and current international students regarding their questions and concerns about SUNY Oswego as needed
  • Oversee student employees in the ISSS office, ensuring coverage and excellent student services
  • Identify and work with relevant international student organizations and international student leaders on outreach, communication, and otherwise developing good relations and feedback from students
  • Support exchange partner university relationships and recruiting partnerships to facilitate receiving increased international students to SUNY Oswego, working closely with the Associate Provost/Director of the Office of International Education and Programs

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree by time of appointment
  • 3 years progressive higher education enrollment management experience with evidence of success
  • Experience effectively using a customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Demonstrated organizational and collaborative effectiveness
  • Excellent written and presentational communication ability in English

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree at time of appointment
  • 5 years progressive higher education enrollment management experience with evidence of successful enrollment growth
  • Expertise with the Slate customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Experience working with a sophisticated international student population within a global higher education framework, including relevant immigration regulations
  • Excellent written and presentational communication ability in English and other language(s) used in key recruitment regions
