In the School of Social and Natural Sciences, the Department of Politics and International Relations is seeking part-time adjunct instructors to teach POLSC 100: Introduction to American Politics, a core class for students in our Political Science degree program and required in several other majors. Other classes might be available in future semesters.

Essential Duties
  • Prepare meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar;
  • Create a syllabus that meets the Provost's Syllabus Checklist requirements;
  • Create assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course;
  • Address student questions in a timely and helpful manner;
  • Use Bridges (Sakai) Learning Management System and other technology to enhance student learning;
  • Support and follow University policies and procedures;
  • Submit grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines;
  • Communicate student concerns with Department Chair in the program.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Political Science or related field
  • Experience teaching American government and politics

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. (ABD) or Ph.D.
  • Experience with active learning and other innovative pedagogical models

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
