Overview of Assistant Director of International Admissions and Immigration Services

Purdue University Northwest's Department of Admissions and Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Director of International Admissions and Immigration Services.  The Assistant Director provides leadership and proactive support for the overall admission mission as well as develop and execute a strategic international enrollment plan to expand, build, and sustain international student enrollment.  The Assistant Director will focus on actively growing and nurturing pivotal relationships and collaborating with academic colleges, among other key stakeholders as well as seeks to further develop and expand strategic global partnerships with institutions and organizations abroad.  PNW has 300+ international students from over 35 countries.

Salary:  $60,100 - $65,000

Duties of Assistant Director of International Admissions And Immigration Services

  • Develop and execute a strategic international enrollment plan that supports the strategic admission plans and the University strategic plan.
  • Develop, oversee, and execute strategic, multi-channel marketing and communication plans targeted to various international audiences that support and maximize results. These audiences include prospective students, parents, counselors, and agents.
  • Offer pre-arrival orientation to all international students, families, and peer institutions overseas
  • Work with all international students and parents on matters pertaining to health insurance, housing accommodations, meal plans, and securing access to campus amenities successfully and without delays.
  • Oversee and participate in the advisement of international students, scholars and University departments, on immigration regulatory matters, financial concerns, employment, personal and cultural concerns, tax issues and health insurance. Participates in outreach to departments and partners by providing information regarding the international student regulations and requirements.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with international organizations and college counselors.
  • Identify and establish strategic global partnerships aiming to further internationalize the PNW community.
  • Work with faculty and colleges in developing global agreements on behalf of the University.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Affairs on identifying and establishing student exchange agreements with peer institutions overseas.
  • Manages international applicant file review and the international admission communication flow.
  • Serves as a DSO (Designated School Official) to help ensure compliance with all government regulations regarding international students; Maintains knowledge of both SEVIS policies concerning academic programs and F-1 student visas regulations.
  • Will issue immigration documents for all visa types, including I-20 and DS-2019, and performs or supervises all duties required to ensure that students and scholars receive accurate information. Also guides students throughout the entire process of studying at PNW, including before the student arrives in the US, throughout the entire program of study, and through any post- graduation work experience
  • Submits or supervises preparation and submission of reports to federal agencies such as SEVIS registrations, Annual Report on Exchange Visitor Program, re-certification, Open Doors Report, and internal reports

Education of Assistant Director of International Admissions And Immigration Services

  • Bachelor’s degree in international education, international affairs, international relations, law, or a relevant field
  • Master’s preferred

 

Experience of Assistant Director of International Admissions And Immigration Services

  • 4-5 years of administrative experience working with international students, scholars, and immigration regulations 

Core Competencies of Assistant Director of International Admissions And Immigration Services

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Possess excellent communication and analytic skills in order to interpret and apply federal regulations to international education programs as sponsored by the University
  • Must have desire and aptitude for working with international students.
  • Ability to develop and maintain databases, Microsoft Word, and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Must have specialized training in SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) procedures and processes
  • Working knowledge of immigration regulations as they effect F1 and J1 students and scholars, H1Bs, as well as other visa holders
