The Office of International Education at the University of Vermont is searching for a new International Student and Scholar Advisor to join our team. This position includes immigration advising and programmatic duties. While focused most heavily on international student support, also will build towards work with our J-1 scholar population.

Minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s degree and two years of full-time experience advising international students or scholars. Experience living or working abroad and/or extensive experience working with international populations in the United States. Ability to interpret federal regulations and apply knowledge to advising clients on status-related issues. Demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity on US college campuses. Experience in organizing programs and events for university students or scholars. Ability to communicate effectively in individual advising and group presentations, including to non-native English speakers. Ability to communicate succinctly and clearly to distill complex issues in writing and in speaking. Ability to learn new computer applications required. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident per federal regulations to use SEVIS database.

Preference for candidates with direct experience advising on F-1 and J-1 immigration regulations, as this is a central component of the role.
