Director of Counseling and Student Affairs (South Loop)
Compensation: Negotable

Reports To: The Chancellor
Position Summary:
The Director of Counseling and Student Affairs (CSA) is a promoter for students, promoting school programs to ensure that students are welcomed, supported, and encouraged. The academic program and school experiences reflect the students' interests and future requirements.
The Director will develop and supervise services that facilitate academic achievement, personal-social well-being, and growth. Supervising academic counselors and student volunteers, and workers. The Director also ensures that services comply with the school ethos and support the school community. The Director of CSA will be responsible for aligning the student services program with school goals, collecting data on the student experience, advising the administration on programming and scheduling, and managing and coaching the performance of their staff.
The requirements listed below are a representative selection of the knowledge, skill, or ability required.
Key Competencies:
• Lead team meetings and attend relevant school and professional meetings as needed.
• Provide coaching and training as needed to promote continual improvement of services.
• Document and provide feedback as required by the school.
• Review all quarter and annual goals of the team and revise as needed.
• Provide professional development workshops and other training throughout the year.
• Ensure robust compliance with external mandates.
• Report concerns regarding staff performance or conduct to the administration promptly.
• Collect, review, and analyze data to advise the administration and team on how to shift
practices to support increased student satisfaction and success.
• Train team on course registration procedures and protocols.
• Assist the administration in developing, revising, and interpreting school policies
that affect the student experience, promotion, or post-secondary plans and outcomes.
• Communicate the academic and support services program to parents and the community (i.e., open house, back-to-school events, newsletters, etc.) and help parents understand how to access available services.
• Write annual goal(s) for the team(s) to be reviewed at the end of the year.
• Submit reports as requested by the administration.
• Routinely meet with other directors to promote interdisciplinary programming.
• Implement program evaluation.
• Assist the administration with planning orientation programs and beginning-of-year initiatives that create/strengthen positive connections between the school, staff, and students.
• Guide staff on ways to build classroom communities that generate student engagement, collaboration, and achievement.
• Help the team stay current regarding developments, innovations, and trends related to team programs and concerns.
• Assume responsibility for ordering and ensuring distribution of team materials and equipment.
• Maintain an accurate record of all team materials purchased by the school and file an inventory with the administration annually (when requested).
• Prepare an annual budget for the assigned team(s) that reflects the team's needs and priorities.
• Always lead with integrity and professionalism, even in the face of conflict or ambiguity.
• Act to reflect a service orientation grounded in compassion and partnership, reflecting the mission and vision of the school, and elevating the school's image in the community.
• Ensure that compliance obligations are accurately and promptly fulfilled.
• Take on projects and initiatives as requested by the administration.
• Acts as an ambassador, elevating the school's image and encouraging families to select and partner with the school.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
Qualifications:
• Master's Degree (Required) in School Counseling or Social Work
• A minimum of 5 years of successful work experience in a school or college is required
• At least two years of experience mentoring, coaching or leading professional development for professional staff (Strongly Preferred)
Other Qualifications:
• Strong technical skills - the ability to work with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, presentation platforms, and equipment. Student information databases, integrating these platforms when necessary required.
