The Department of Security Studies and International Affairs (SSIA) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL., invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Security Studies and International Affairs. The successful candidate will contribute to SSIA's Global Conflict Studies and Homeland Security and Intelligence programs through teaching, service, and research.

Teaching duties will center on undergraduate courses that relate to international affairs and global conflict. Service duties include student advising, participation on departmental, college, and university committees; relationship building with external organizations and agencies, and other activities to support the SSIA Department. Successful candidates must have a research profile and enthusiasm for collaboration with colleagues with the goal of establishing a sustained record of scholarly presentations, publications, and externally sponsored grants. Experience in grant proposal development is a plus. This nine-month position includes the possibility of summer teaching assignments. The position begins in August 2023.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate in International Affairs, History, Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Homeland Security, or related discipline.
  • A record of academic publishing or demonstrated progress toward publication.
  • Experience in higher education teaching is preferred.
  • Field or research experience in non-government organizations, humanitarian work, peacekeeping or conflict mediation is strongly preferred.

An exceptional candidate who is ABD (with an expected completion date within six months of the hire date) will be considered.
