*Position Summary:* The director provides leadership for and management of the International Education Office, including program planning and implementation. The director oversees budget development and management, institutional partnerships, international exchanges and grants, student study abroad programs, international curriculum initiatives and grant projects, and other activities that contribute to global and international awareness and knowledge at JCCC. Programming also includes the Global Awareness Program and supporting faculty/staff international travel. The director designs and administers faculty-led study abroad programs, including managing the program proposal review, developing budgets, and working with partner providers.

*Required Qualifications:*

Master's degree from an accredited university
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Minimum of three years of experience in international education or directly related field at an institution of higher education including one year of formal supervisory experience
International travel experience and knowledge
Ability to maintain an established work schedule but with necessary flexibility (will often be required)
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from other cultures with tact and diplomacy
Detail oriented
Logistical and planning ability
Experience in preparing and monitoring budgets
Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Experience in maintaining the confidentiality of work-related information and materials
Experience with Via-TRM or similar application management software

*Preferred Qualifications: *

Graduate degree in an international studies-related field
A minimum of three years community college experience
Experience managing grants
Experience developing and managing study abroad programs at an institution of higher learning
Experience teaching part-time or full-time at an institution of higher education

*Position Details:* *Job duties include but are not limited to: *

Management - Lead and manage the International Education Office, including budgetary oversight, the hiring, orientation/training, supervision, and evaluation of International Education staff, and regular assessment of the needs and progress of global and international education at JCCC.

a. Financial and personnel resources are managed effectively in the International Education department.

b. Stakeholders receive regular communications about active projects and services.

c. Customer service feedback metrics are at or above expectations based on surveys or other data.

d. The following programs are managed efficiently:

* Study Abroad: strategic and operational plans are established for faculty and student semester and short-term study abroad programs.

* The Global Awareness Program: access is maximized for students, international programming is supported at JCCC, and GAP components are developed in courses and programs on an ongoing basis.

* The annual Greater Kansas City Peacebuilding Conference: organized and held with KC partners on a yearly basis.

f. The International Education Committee is chaired regularly to award travel grants, to keep the committee informed of international activities at the college, and to review GAP course submissions.

Research and Development - Provide forward thinking leadership for emerging global education services and needs.

a. Facilitates development and implementation of policies and procedures for study abroad and exchange programs.

b. Facilitates and acts as primary point-of-contact for approved visiting international groups.

c. Coordinates and facilitates faculty and student study abroad programs.

d. Identifies and prepares grant funded proposals for international initiatives.

e. Coordinates and facilitates student/faculty agreements with selected international colleges and universities, working directly with representatives from those colleges, universities, and organizations.

f. Evaluates current international education program curriculum; facilitates the development and integration of courses into the general curriculum.

g. Oversees international education grant projects.

Communication - Provide comprehensive communication about International Education support for students, the college, and the community. Performance meets expectations when:

a. Internal and external marketing and program information is facilitated.

b. By serving as a point-person and resource, college-sponsored or college-marketed international travel is facilitated along with travel leaders' adherence to the college's international travel procedures.

c. Opportunities are promoted with all academic programs at JCCC for international education for students.

Collaboration - Work with all relevant stakeholders to establish productive professional relationships and networks in pursuit of broadening the impact of global education at JCCC. Performance meets expectations when:

a. It reflects collaboration with faculty, staff, and administration to promote global competency among college employees and students and the institutionalization of international education programming.

b. It establishes and maintains professional networks with related local, state, national, and international organizations and agencies.

c. Collaborates with representatives from foreign colleges, universities, and organizations for special projects or programs as required.

d. It engages college faculty and staff as well as the local community in international and intercultural initiatives.
