The UW School of Pharmacy has an outstanding opportunity for an Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment/ Counseling Services Coordinator, within the Doctor of Pharmacy program, with a focus on student recruitment. The role requires the ability to interact with prospective students in an engaging, enthusiastic way, the ability to focus one's messaging on the defining qualities of the program, an understanding of the competitive landscape of Pharmacy education, the capacity to think strategically in the development of a recruitment plan and the allocation of resources, and the ability to advise prospective students on intricate and overlapping content areas (e.g., admissions requirements, the PharmD curriculum, experiential education, academic progress scenarios, etc.). The role also requires project management skills necessary for successful on-campus events for current and prospective students. Student Recruitment • With guidance from the Director of Admissions & Recruitment, develop and implement an annual recruitment plan for the Office of Professional Pharmacy Education aligning with the School's strategic plan as well as program goals including enrollment and diversity targets • Plan, coordinate, and implement on-campus and virtual recruitment sessions that inspire prospective students to choose UW School of Pharmacy as their first choice for pharmacy school • Review and assess recruiting best practices among competitor schools and across pharmacy education • Determine feasibility of recruitment strategies and make recommendations to the Director of Admissions & Recruitment, Assistant Dean and Associate Dean • Travel regionally and out-of-state to recruitment events (E.g., career fairs, health sciences education fairs, pharmacy education fairs, graduate & professional school fairs, etc.) and coordinate the logistical coordination associated with this travel (i.e., making reservations, scheduling, developing itineraries, tracking expenditures, etc.) • Oversee, coordinate, and train recruitment delegates such as UW PharmD alumni and other partners • Provide marketing and communications support (in collaboration with the Director of Communications), corresponding with media outlets and upper campus units (i.e., UW Marketing, Creative Communications, etc.), placing print ads, arranging radio spots, etc. in support of recruitment and promotional efforts • Create promotional materials whose purpose is to showcase the defining qualities of the UW PharmD program and inspire prospective students to apply to our program • Understand, communicate, and stay informed on the evolving role of the pharmacist as a key participant on the health care team, in particular as it relates to practice in Washington State • In consultation with the Director of Admissions & Recruitment, design, develop, and manage annual pipeline initiatives that inspire younger learners to become aware of the pharmacy career pathway for their academic and professional future. Advise prospective students on School of Pharmacy admissions requirements, career pathway opportunities, prerequisites, School and University policies and procedures, degree requirements, recreational activities, Registered Student Organizations, financial matters, and related topics. • Provide information to other advising staff (across the University of Washington and in other institutions) about School of Pharmacy policies for admissions, academic progress, student conduct, program completion, certification, licensure, and related topics. • Serve as the point of contact for prospective students and external advisors Admissions • Along with Director of Admissions & Recruitment, plan and lead Interview Day activities • Staff the PharmD Admissions Committee • Evaluate applications on eligibility for admission consideration based on pre-requisite completion Event Planning • Lead the planning and implementation of Students Exploring Pharmacy [STEP], the summer day camp experience designed as a pipeline development initiative for high school students. • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of Professional Networking Day - an annual career fair involving multiple employers representing various pharmacy practice settings • Support other events throughout the year (e.g., Admissions Interview Days, Welcome Week and Orientation, Graduate Recognition Ceremony, etc.). Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in any applicable field • 2-3 years of experience in recruitment, marketing, promotion, event planning, or related area • Exemplary oral/written communication skills and the ability to produce audience-specific messaging • Knowledge of current practices in higher education recruitment (e.g., use of banners, brochures, table tents, free giveaways, etc.) • Ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment • Ability to maintain productivity while working remotely off-site during recruitment travel • Strong customer service orientation and professional demeanor • Natural inclination and enthusiasm for interacting with prospective students • Ability to tailor one's messaging to the defining qualities of the program • Ability to speak comfortably, articulately, and energetically in front of small and large audiences • Ability to learn and understand the national landscape of Pharmacy education trends and make strategic recommendations • Ability to think strategically about the program's allocation of resources • Ability to advise prospective students on intricate and overlapping content areas (e.g., admissions requirements, the PharmD curriculum). • Advanced project management skills necessary for planning and execution of on-campus events for prospective and current students. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask over a variety of projects • Strong attention to detail and high degree of information accuracy • Ability to work well on teams, as a leader, and independently • Advanced data management skills • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, electronic calendaring, web-based applications Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. Desired: • Experience in a student-facing role in higher education • Experience in pharmacy, other health professions, or other higher education student recruitment setting • Proficiency with design applications such as Publisher, InDesign, Photoshop • Professional experience working with a graduate or professional program at the University of Washington or another top-tier institution of higher education • Recruiting fair experience Application Process: The application process for UW positions may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
