Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the UIS Office Coordinator is responsible for providing a wide range of administrative and office support to the Office of University Immigration Services (UIS) and serves as a Designated School Official for Tier One Advising, travel signatures, and processing I-20 updates.


· Coordinates multiple tasks in a complex office environment for effectiveness and efficiency.

· Interacts with students to answer their questions, provide services, and as necessary direct them to campus resources. Demonstrate strong customer service skills and set a welcoming tone for student workers to emulate.

· Efficiently handles UIS communication channels including but not limited to telephone calls, google voice, emails, mail, and social media. May delegate related tasks to student workers as part of the daily workflow of front desk operations.

· Manages ISSM data entry procedures to assure compliant record-keeping and ensures student workers follow protocols.

· With the assistance of student workers, manages the triage of student request forms and inquiries for resolution.

· Manages UIS appointments, walk-ins, and customer satisfaction surveys in Navigate. Coordinates schedules and meetings for the UIS.

· Maintains highly sensitive and confidential material, records and files, including student records protected by FERPA.

· Establishes work plan for the UIS front desk operations and assigns tasks to student workers.

· Compiles, synthesizes and manipulates data from the UIS metrics collection systems for use by the Department. Prepares scheduled reports for the Executive Director, including UIS metrics and budget. Assists with other reports as needed.

· Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) to provide basic immigration advising and document services to F-1 students. Must use discretion and independent judgment relating to immigration options, case and benefit eligibility and filings, and compliance with federal regulation on the part of both the student and the University.

· Documents, addresses, and resolves (where applicable) general and routine student and parent concerns pertaining to the programs/services under the responsibility of the UIS. Refers Tier Two Advising to other DSOs and complex and/or sensitive issues (Tier Three) to the Executive Director.

· Other duties as assigned and necessary in order to meet the mission of the University and the school’s enrollment goals

REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and two years professional experience is highly desired.

· Experience with international students and a general working knowledge of student visa requirements and processing guidelines. Experience using SEVIS preferred.

· It is mandatory that UNH employees abide by all pre-determined Covid related policies and procedures.

· Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to serve as a DSO.

· This is not a remote position.


· Ability to complete multiple tasks and make insightful decisions in a fast paced office environment and maintain strong client service focus

· Ability to maintain tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in working with confidential information

· Ability to work well with internal and external constituencies. Possess strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

· Intercultural competency to relate to students from many different cultures, ethnicities, languages, and religious backgrounds.

· Demonstrated excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word, Google suite, and Internet research/social media. Must be comfortable using various database platforms (eg. CRMs and international student information systems, and simple survey tools.
