CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
The Center for Global Programs & Services (CGPS) invites applications fortwoStudy Abroad Coordinator positions. Celebrating 100 years of study abroad at the University of Delaware, applicants can help usher in the next century of study-travel programs. Under the general direction of the Associate Director for Study Abroad, the Study Abroad Coordinator is responsible for the planning, marketing, staffing, implementation and evaluation of study/travel programs. The Study Abroad Coordinator administers study/travel programs with department faculty and markets programs across campus, recommends and enforces UD study abroad policies and procedures, and manages the post-program evaluation and feedback.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages all aspects of new and existing study abroad programs such as web-page updates, pre-departure orientation, and distribution of post-program student evaluations; advises/guides faculty on program development.
- Monitors program budget planning, collection and review of invoices, cash-advance follow-up
- Helps faculty schedule interest and orientation meetings; recruits and facilitates the recruitment of students for study abroad programs; promotional materials.
- Responds to and resolves student/parents/faculty/resident directors concerns and emergencies overseas.
- Produces end of term feedback for faculty directors of study abroad programs.
- May act as liaison with academic departments for program development and support.
- Provides orientation and interpretations of study abroad policies for faculty program directors.
- Support education abroad student engagement programs such as the study abroad ambassadors and Delaware Diplomats programs; select, train, and assign student leaders to support study abroad outreach, recruitment and re-entry programs; accompany international visitors around campus; and welcome international students and visitors as needed.
- Assists the Associate Director with various projects as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skills in budget preparation and the ability to develop financial plans.
- Experience with Terra Dotta study abroad software preferred.
- Ability to plan, market and evaluate programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of academic policies and procedures, course requirements and prerequisites, and procedures governing credit transfer.
- Ability to retain and disseminate a varied body of information and employ independent decision-making skills.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Study abroad or foreign living experience preferred.
- Program planning and management experience preferred.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Demonstrated understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
