About Binghamton University:

The state of New York provided $60 million to establish a School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University. The school, which enrolled its inaugural PharmD class in 2017, is housed in a state-of-the-art, 105,000 square-foot building dedicated to research and education and located at the University's new Health Sciences Campus. The school's outstanding pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences leaders use contemporary medication management and innovative research to transform human health locally and globally. The research and clinically focused school is training the next generations of graduates to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered pharmaceutical care to diverse groups of patients, especially those in underserved rural and geriatric communities. Our new pharmacy simulations laboratory houses a hospital pharmacy with a 797-compliant sterile room, community pharmacy with a robotic dispenser, patient home setting, and three hospital rooms complete with electrocardiographic/respiratory/hemodynamic monitoring and high-fidelity manikins.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The PhD program is opening in 2022 and will be renowned for its contributions to translational, clinical and outcomes research within the changing landscape of drug development, pharmacy practice and clinical science.

Job Description:

Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)

Salary: Commensurate with experience

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University - SUNY is searching for an experienced and innovative leader in student recruitment and retention as the next Director of Admissions. This 12-month, full-time, in-person position offers an exciting opportunity to develop and execute a vision for recruiting high caliber students. The Director of Admissions will report to the Associate Dean for Education and Engagement and work with the Office of Admissions and other internal and external stakeholders to develop strategic recruitment plans for all of the School's degree programs, including the PharmD program and graduate programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Director of Admissions will be an enthusiastic representative for SOPPS working closely with other colleges and universities in nurturing relationships to promote a pipeline for student recruitment. This includes leading the development and maintenance of articulation agreements and professional relationships with counselors, professors, teachers and other education professionals to advance the reputation and spread awareness of the School and the pharmacy profession. The Director of Admissions will also collaborate with campus partners to maximize outreach and recruitment of Binghamton University undergraduates. The Director of Admissions will be responsible for leading the Office of Admissions team, managing its budget, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to successfully implement recruitment and enrollment initiatives and activities, including on boarding of accepted students. The Director of Admissions will also assist in data compilation related to admissions and enrollment, such as enrollment trends, student demographics, and workforce trends, to advance the School's strategic plan and compliance with accreditation standards. The Director of Admissions will be an integral part of the School's commitment to training diverse student practitioners and scientists to provide culturally sensitive and inclusive service to transform human health locally and globally.

Applicants with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in admissions/enrollment, awareness of or experience in a professional and/or graduate school setting, and supervisory experience are desired. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

* Direct and oversee student admission activities, to include: admissions, compiling and maintaining student admission records and data collection
* Responsible for managing the processes for student candidate interview days by training faculty and coordinating logistics
* Effectively work with faculty, staff and the Admissions Committee of the School to manage the admissions process
* Work with the SOPPS Associate Dean for Education and Engagement, the Director of Student Affairs, and the Director of Assessment to monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and oversee implementation of changes required for improvement of the admissions process
* Oversee all facets of the daily operations of Admissions, ensuring compliance with university, state and federal law s, policies and regulations as related to recruitment and admissions
* Assessing and reporting on all facets of Admissions
* Supervise the Office of Admissions staff
* Represent SOPPS at internal and community events

Requirements:

* Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., student affairs, higher education administration, counseling, communications, public relations, human development/psychology/sociology, or other) with a minimum of 3 years of experience or a bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of experience in higher education settings
* Direct or indirect experience with admissions or recruiting
* Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, including public speaking
* Proven ability to prioritize and organize
* Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work with a diverse population and within a team structure
* Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed, for recruitment and promotional purposes
* Experience using common computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office suite)
* Ability to travel up to 30% of the time for recruitment (mostly regional travel)
* A valid driver's license to enable travel for recruitment and promotional purposes

Preferred:

* Experience in pharmacy or another health professional school admissions division
* Experience with an online application management portal system
* Supervisory experience
