The SCAD International Student Services Office helps guide international SCAD students from acceptance through graduation and beyond. As an ISSO adviser, you will work with students in-person, over-the-phone, and via email to advise them on their immigration status as it pertains to their studies at/after SCAD. In this position, you will follow changes in laws, rules, regulations, and administrative procedures concerning international students studying in the U.S., overseeing all aspects of SEVIS I-20 transfers in and out of SCAD, and managing the reporting requirements for these transfers to USCIS’ SEVP database. You will help manage Terra Dotta alerts as well as student orientations, programs, workshops, and cross-campus collaboration to help students acclimate to American cultures and norms.

 

The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of F-1 student visa regulations and in filing optional practical training (OPT) work authorization applications, as well as curricular practical training (CPT) advising. Experience designing and implementing events and workshops is required, as is the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The ability to speak languages other than English is preferred.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred)
  • One or more years of experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) or comparable international education knowledge
  • Excellent written and oral communication and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of STEM-related career issues
  • Experience in Banner, Terra Dotta, Salesforce, and App Extender

 

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency, as mandated by federal regulations, is required.

 

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
