The College of Communication and Information invites applications for a full-time, exempt, market range 07 staff appointment as Student Services Coordinator. The Student Services Coordinator will provide support to distance education students from their recruitment to graduation in the current Strategic and Digital Communication MS concentration. The College is also exploring an undergraduate degree completion program.

The College of Communication and Information fosters a learning environment that promotes diversity, academic engagement, and student success. The purpose of this role is to provide high quality academic support and advice to guide distance education students through their educational journey and create a sense of mattering and belonging even though learners are at a distance.

Responsibilities include advising students through course planning and registration and connection to campus resources while promoting retention and graduation. Support includes planning and execution of virtual student orientation as well as connection, professional development, and career related opportunities for all enrolled students. Management of student registration, academic, and demographic data is critical to student success and this role may also support the recruiting and prospective students during the application process. The Student Services Coordinator also performs other duties as assigned to support all aspects of the College of Communication and Information vision and mission.

Required:
  • Master's degree in Communication, Business, or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively with a wide range of students in a diverse population.

Preferred:
  • Experience in learning strategies, academic intervention and support, especially for distance education or non-traditional students
  • Higher Education experience
  • Knowledge of Graduate School and University policies and systems including Slate, Banner, and Navigate
  • Experience working effectively with a wide range of students in a diverse population
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office, scheduling software, and similar office technology
