Viterbi Admission and Student Engagement (VASE) is seeking an Associate Director to join our Graduate Academic Services team. The Graduate Academic Services team provides advisement services and programs to graduate engineering students. This position will be responsible for managing academic engagement programs at the Graduate level. Support for graduate students includes DEN petition process, leading DEN student initiatives, DEN orientation, advisement for all Graduate students, and coordination with Viterbi Engagement team.
The ideal candidate must be collaborative, creative, and organized, have excellent communication skills, and skilled in project management.
The individual will:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Minimum three years of experience advising and developing student programs. Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree. Knowledge of USC programs and services. Experience with database systems. Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities in order to complete assignments within deadlines. Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing priorities and fluctuating workloads.

- Understand and be well-versed in advising and student development theory and be able to apply these concepts to their practice and delivery of services.
- Advise on matters of curriculum, course and degree requirements, graduate school procedures, and graduation counseling and clearance. Monitor student progress and update database information.
- Evaluate student problems, academic, administrative or personal and refer student to appropriate student services office for additional support. Liaise with other offices on behalf of students to facilitate problem resolution.
- Manage Graduate Student Processes including CPT, OPT, RCL, LOA, Graduate School petition processes, DEN petition process, DEN curriculum
- Manage DEN student population
- Support Graduate Student advisement processes.
- Liaise with faculty and department to provide program support for all Graduate Students
- Gather data and prepare reports assessing all programs.
- Coordinate development, production and distribution of materials used for marketing and communicating events and services to targeted population. Assist in the development of content and in maintenance of program website.
- Develop and monitor of program budgets.
