TITLE: ADMINISTRATOR OF EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership from an accredited educational institution.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience including experience in related field.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

  • REPORTS TO: Director of Exceptional Student Education and Student Services

    SUPERVISES: Exceptional Student Education teachers and appropriate staff

    JOB GOAL: The supervisor functions as an extension of the director's position to ensure the effective and efficient provision of exceptional student education programs and services to eligible students.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assumes responsibility for ESE programs in the absence of the director.
  • Work with exceptional student education teachers regarding behavior management, teaching techniques, and other classroom development activities.
  • Assist in ESE curriculum development and testing activities.
  • Assist in developing and providing district wide inservice and training activities.
  • Participate in staffing and IEP development committees as needed.
  • Assist in all aspects of monitoring referrals for ESE placement.
  • Participate in school level child study team meetings as appropriate.
  • Assist in providing open communication between classroom, school, community, and district office levels.
  • Assists in monitoring 504 guidelines and Federal reporting requirements for ESE.
  • Provide assistance and support to families of ESE students.
  • Provide input to the director to be used in grants and Special Programs and Procedures development.
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate Supervisor, the Superintendent, or the Board.

  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board policies for evaluation of administrative personnel.
