Position Summary
As members of the Office of International Education (OIE), the International Education Coordinators support the university's international student program. The Coordinators play a role in all stages of the international student experience, supporting applicants throughout the admission process and advising international students on visa compliance in the role of a Designated School Official (DSO). In addition, the Coordinators promote international education on campus through special programs and by advising students on study abroad opportunities.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
50% International Admission (Undergraduate)
- Actively follow up with international applicants via email, text, and video call to achieve application completion
- Evaluate and assess foreign credentials to determine admission and scholarship eligibility
- Communicate admission decisions to students and recruitment partners
- Support recruitment efforts, such as virtual fairs and events, as needed
- Determine student eligibility for non-immigrant status and issue official visa-related documents (Form I-20)
50% International Education & Student Support*
- Serve as a DSO (Designated School Official) by advising F-1 visa holders on enrollment requirements, employment authorization, travel, and other matters of compliance.
- Assist the Director (PDSO) in maintaining student SEVIS records
- Coordinate International Student arrival and orientation events
- Support the adjustment and success of international students through engagement activities, retention efforts, and assisting students in navigating
- Promote and recruit ODU students for faculty-led and third-party study abroad opportunities; assist students in the application process, funding opportunities, academic credit approval, and logistics of study abroad
- Support the planning and implementation of faculty-led programs abroad
- Coordinate international education opportunities on campus, support student programs (e.g. World Student Club)
- Train, supervise, and support International Education Assistants (student workers)
- Keep office forms, social media, and office communication up-to-date

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in international higher education as a participant or professional desired
- S. citizen or permanent resident (required to serve as a DSO) with a valid passport
- Excellent communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, as well as external constituents
- Demonstrated success in intercultural communication
- Ability to multitask or task-shift
