Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Global Partnerships, the Partnerships & Exchange Specialist will provide administrative and programmatic support the Office of Global Partnerships, manage the onboarding of incoming exchange students and scholars, communications, and strategic initiatives. The Specialist must have the ability to work with a diverse population in a professional manner, maintaining high levels of customer service, cross-cultural sensitivity, and discretion in handling confidential information. 

Job Responsibilities:

Visiting Exchange Students: 30%

Manage the visiting exchange student application process. Plan and update program materials for orientation, student communication, and event promotion (online student guide, pre-departure emails, departure emails, etc).  Assist with integrating exchange students from international partner universities to the LSU community. Assist with pre-arrival orientation to exchange students, families, and peer institutions overseas. Work with exchange students and parents on matters pertaining to health insurance, housing accommodations, meal plans, and securing access to campus amenities successfully and without delays. Serve as primary liaison with Housing & Residence Life, Academic Units, and other University offices. Serve as the point of contact for all exchange students and peer universities abroad. Use independent judgment to troubleshoot program-related problems and issues and determine appropriate solutions and work through to resolution. Master understanding of University policies, practices, and requirements and have the ability to effectively communicate and implement these with exchange participants and program partners. 

Visiting Scholars: 30%

Assist with the welcoming process for visiting scholars. Ensure campus resources, services, and infrastructure are prepared for their arrival. Coordinate and collaborate with academic departments on matters pertaining to the on-boarding of international scholars. Assist with housing, transportation, and access to campus amenities such as ID cards, UREC access, and office space. Collaborate with the Director of International Student Engagement to ensure visiting scholars are included in campus programming.  

Unit Operations: 15%

Manage purchases and requisitions for the unit in collaboration with the Director of Business Operations and Director of Global Partnerships. Assist with hosting visitors, meetings, and travel logistics. Assist with file and asset management.

Global Partnerships: 10%

Assist with the agreement creation and signing process. Assist with monitoring the effectiveness of LSU's agreements and ensuring that they align with university goals.

Grants and Funding: 5%

Assist with International Programs faculty grant funding aiming to advance internationalization at LSU. Manage the nomination and selection process.  Collaborate to ensure faculty grant opportunities are fully promoted on campus and throughout the University community. 

Communications and Marketing: 5%

Assist with the creation of written and visual outputs for various printed and digital communications.

Other duties as assigned. 5%

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program; 2 years of experience.

Specific Experience - 2 years of related experience. Experience developing and implementing programs and events for international students and scholars.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working and communicating effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Technical knowledge of Terra Dotta and/or equivalent study abroad/international education software. Experience with Canva. Experience with data reporting and analysis. Demonstrated ability to leverage technology. Commitment to diversity and inclusion. Ability to work with customer relationship management technology.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minor Contact -This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. Finger printing and National Sex Offender Registry check required per FASOP HR-04.

  • FERPA -As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.

Additional Information: Operating Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. This is an in-person role based in Baton Rouge, LA
